Snow Days
Has anyone ever had a college snow day?
I get my first one tomorrow, and we celebrated today by going sledriding down a street on a table (deltalum i'm sure you probably know what i'm talking about). I'm so excited to get an extra day this weekend! |
I'm jealous! Having attended school in Wisconsin and Minnesota, I will probably never get a college snow day. I remember days where there was two or three feet of snow on the ground and college students were still expected to go to class.

When I was at Texas (a million years ago) we had a big snow storm on Valentine's day. They closed the University as well as all the state offices. I had 2 roommates who worked for the state and one who worked for a doctor. She had to work and was mad because they had like NO one come in to the doctor that day!!

I teach and TOMORROW is a SNOW DAY!!!
Dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh :p |
we had one last year...it was the Monday after spring Break...it was nice to have break extended one day.

In North Carolina, we have had at least three or four snow days so far this year... :D
What a shame  |
My University had two snow days my Sophomore year....but none since then. The first time they had a snow day was half way through the day they decided to close the University. I was already done with classes so it wasn't any big thing for me.
There have been other times when I was surprised that the University held classes. A few weeks back we had negative temps and a terrible wind chill and they still had classes. It was horrid walking across campus and they really should have called off classes. However, I will say this much...some teachers have their own rule that if all the metro area public schools close they won't have classes. So it's purely up to the teacher but technically they're not supposed to cancel! |
We have a snow day tomorrow too! I'm so excited! My sister's friends from OU were bragging and then we ended up being off too! I'm bout to go out and celebrate!
