Computer Virus Alert
My computer was infected with the Teddy Bear virus (jdbgmgr.exe)! It's deleted now, and I don't think any harm was done. Who ARE these people who create these most destructive viruses?!?
Since I am so computer illiterate, I didn't know if the virus on my computer would affect any PMs to any GCers. To be on the safe side, please check. If it did infect your computer, I've got instructions for eradicating it. |
THIS VIRUS IS A HOAX!
Everyone has the jdbgmgr.exe file on their computer. It is not a virus, it is a hoax. I got the e-mail a few years ago, and whenever I get one, I'll look it up. Here's the link http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99436 it has directions for restoring the file. If you don't or can't restore the file, it's not a necessary file for your computer, so don't worry about it unless you know you need it. Usually you can if a virus is legit or not, is to search for it at Mcaffee.com or something, and find out how to get rid of it properly if it is indeed a real virus. In this such hoax case, the steps to delete the virus was to delete the file, but if it is a worm or trojan or whatever, usually it isn't that simple, and you have to go through regedit to get rid of it all.
