Why do(part II).....

distanced relationship almost always seem to fail?

That is not alwayZ true...I know this Kappa that just got married to this Delta who he dated for a year or so on LD...

My current bf is LD...and it's working well http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I think the keys to a sucessful LD relationship are TRUST and COMMUNICATION without them you might have well pack it up...and find someone in your own area.

I have also found that if the couple is secure in themselves and don't believe that life can't go on without the other not being there...then it can work as well...

While "closer distance" relationships usually take 100% of people's efforts, long distance relationships need about twice the amount of effort to make it work. As a result, some believe that they can make things work, until they find that it takes so much more dedication, patience, communication and trust. My theory is that everything happens for a reason because it is a part of God's plan for us. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

At this point in my life LD relationships are ideal. My career and weekly schedule is so demanding I don't have the time or energy for an extra person day in and day out. When Friday 4:30pm hits I am more than ready to be with that special person for three days non stop. Is this type of relationship the real deal? Not always because its more so a trist versus a relationship. LD relationships can work, but I believe each LD relationship has its own shelf life meaning that eventually it has to evolve in order for it to survive the long run.
