Trumpet Awards???
I've never heard of this awards show. Has anyone else? I just happened to see a commercial for it last night. The show airs on Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m. (doesn't specify what time zone, but I assume it's Eastern) on TBS. Here's a description:
Turner Broadcasting is proud to present its annual Trumpet Awards recognizing the contributions and achievements of many very deserving men and women. Trumpet Award honorees have made enormous contributions to our society and clearly enriched the lives of many. They are a few of the many who have sacrificed and weathered the storms of racism, prejudice and discrimination. As we pay respect to them, we pay deferential regard to our predecessors who made us the beneficiaries of a life time of struggles. We walk the paths they cleared and through the doors they opened. This Black History observance is one of Turner Broadcasting's efforts to pay profound respect to those who achieved against overwhelming odds. This program does much to bridge the gap of understanding and helps create goodwill among all Americans. Our honorees are people who embody virtues we can all respect -principles we can all applaud-and temerity worthy of high regard 2003 Honorees: DESTINY'S CHILD - Entertainers THOMAS W.
