Sigh Of Releif!

Okay, so I will admit I am a little overwhelmed at this BSP thing... its been incredibly frustrating to the point that we have done nothing in the past two weeks... but yesterday I got a letter in the mail from a chapter in FRANKLIN PA! That is like maybe 45 min away!!! She got my name from the prospective member list... Im going to call her today and explain our situation, maybe see if they can help run our second pledge ritual, help us with meetings and organization, and everything. Because I am completely overwhelmed and frustrated. No one can decide on a time for meetings again and its driving me nuts....

ugh

Don't get too frustrated! You're doing awesome, and nothing worthwhile will be easy. Good luck, andyou're in my prayers!

It's incredibly difficult because we've had no communication to us to let us know what's going on, or even to give possible meeting times for us to decide upon. I have the stuff already to go for pledge education, I just need to know when to come and do it. Perhaps it would help to compile a short list of possible times (say 3) and have everyone say yay or nay to each time. The time with the most people attending will have to be the meeting time. I'd feel badly if there's someone who can't make it, but at this point we're getting nothing done because of one or two people who can't make the time that works for everyone else.

Also, give each officer a job, have them read what they're supposed to do and then do it. The treasurer can start making sure dues are going in and looking into a bank account. The VP can compile a list of rush ideas and plan the education program (both of which are done), The recording secretary needs to read through minute format and be prepared for the voting procedure. The corresponding secretary should start writing to other nearyby chapters to let them know who we are and look into a chapter email account to keep in touch with other chapters. It's too hard to get things done when it's one person doing everything, but if the responsibility is delegated and each person has a minimal job to do things should fly. Just my 2 cents.

Alison....

That other chapter will be a great support for you. After all, they are your sisters! In the mean time, you just need to have a meeting! Since you are having such a hard time getting everyone together, perhaps you could hold an Executive Board meeting first. That way, only the officers need to attend, and you can address the issues that Emily has mentioned. If each officer understands her job and is prepared to uphold her responsibilities, you won't feel so much pressure to make everything right. I am a COMPLETE control freak, so I know what it is like to feel responsible for everything and to want everyone to have a great experience. It's 'cause we care;)

You can do this! You will make Nu Eta happen!

P.S. I tried to reply to your PM, but it didn't work for some reason. Just so you know, our check arrived some time between December 20th and January 25th. I was back in PA, so I don't really know when it came. Also, we just did a really simple version of the pledge ritual set-up that is shown in the book. We used materials that we had, and I bought some candles, ribbons, etc. with my own money for now.

P.P.S. Emily's point about needing contact with other chapters is right on the money. I know my chapter is far away, but we can communicate through e-mail and letters. Both of our chapters are just learning, and I think it would be wonderful to support each other.
E-mail me at umassbeta@yahoo.com! I check it constantly.
