HELP -- Going to Albuquerque!

I am going to a concert in Albuquerque at the end of the month at Tingley Coliseum and am looking for a place to stay. I do not want to stay in a "rough" side of town and being that I do not know Albuquerque for crap, I wanted to see if anybody could help me out. I found a hotel that is right down the road from the Tingley Coliseum on Central Ave S.E. Is that an okay area? I don't mind driving 5 - 10 min's from the Coliseum to I-40 or 25, but where on those highways are the better areas? Thanks for any help. :)

honestly, central SE is probably one of the worst parts of town, general rule of thumb is to stay away from pretty much anything in SE albuquerque, unless you are by the airport. there are several hotels on san pedro & louisiana blvds which are probably only about a 10 minute drive from tingley, and anything near the airport is also about a 10-15 minute drive.

while you're in town definately try to make it to the frontier restaurant, its right across from UNM and its a late night staple(open 24-hrs)

if you are looking to go out drinking too after the concert or whatever, let me know and i can tell you the good places to go :)

hope this helps!

Thanks so much! No wonder I found such an awesome rate in the Tingley area. :p As much as I would love to go out and party after the concert, the next morning I will be leaving at 7am. Sucks, but that's what happens when you can't afford $250 to fly and live 15 driving hours away. :D It's going to be one hell of a drive, but definitely worth it.

Question: Since I will be driving away from the area, I would like to stick to something on the highway. Where would you suggest? Southern or Northern Alb. off of 25? Western off of 40? Thank ya much in advance.

well since you're going back to texas, i would imagine you'd want to stay on i-40 east..there are several hotels right off of 40 on eubank(i think theres a best western or a comfort inn or something and a few others), and the ones i mentioned on louisana are right off of 40 as well.
