graduation announcements

I got a letter in the mail yesterday saying that the bookstore is going to start selling custom made grad announcements. Unfortunately they are extremely expensive. So i have decided to make my own.

Now i am hardly a poet so i need some help creating the text for the announcements. I went to a custom invitation place with some examples of grad announcements and they are all pretty cheesy, cliche, and so on.
(Ex: Graduation is not an end but rather a beginning; to achieve all that is possible, we must attempt the impossible etc etc etc:rolleyes: )

I want something in addition to when and where my graduation is.

If anyone has a website, old bid day shirt, idea, saying, song lyric, etc that can help me out, send away.
thanks!

May I STRONGLY and with MUCH enthusiasm suggest QUOTELAND.COM to you, and to anyone else who will EVER need a quote!

My only comment ist try using the search feature before you post because the mods can be pretty snippy if you post a thread asking for graduation quotes...as you can imagine they're pretty common (ie repetitive)...!!

good luck- i KNOW this site will help...!

So how did they turn out?

i ended up going to quoteland.com and found a bunch of cute stuff. i have narrowed it down to four quotes.

"Draw a crazy picture,
Write a nutty poem,
Sing a mumble-gumble song,
Whistle through your comb.
Do a loony-goony dance
'Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain't been there before."
-Shel Silverstein

A graduation ceremony is an event where the commencement speaker tells thousands of students dressed in identical caps and gowns that 'individuality' is the key to success. -- Robert Orben

"Always be a first-rate version of yourself instead of a second-rate version of somebody else." -- Judy Garland

Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never-haves, then listen close to me. Anything can happen child; anything can be.
~Shel Silverstein

I kinda like the second one but i don't know how my mom will ;) I will see when I go home this weekend.

If you like the announcements at the bookstore, but think they are too expensive... why not just have your printer copy the text and design?
