Child Support and Jesse

I know many people don't financially support their children, and THEY KNOW it's wrong; yet there are many people that do. The Child Support system should make every effort possible to assure fairness in determining the real needs of the child. Jesse Jackson pays $3000.00 per month in child support; yet the mother of the child wants more. One child, and $3000.00 a month is NOT ENOUGH?
Also, visitation rights are not a part of the agreement!
I saw a report on CNN that a man that had decided to marry a woman with a newborn did so. Some three years into the marriage, he decided to get out of it. The mother, aware of the fact that the man was not the biological father of her child, demanded child support. Despite DNA proof, the court still ordered him to pay support!

SOMEBODY HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS!

I agree O.A, $3,000.00 is more than enough. She chose the lifestyle that she did (I think she now owns some former actor/actress' home).

I saw what you posted in our forum as far as the visitation rights are concerned. I don't quite know the specifics of "formalized" visitation, but it sounds as if he is being forced to do something that he obviously does not want to, therefore he may resent it in the long run (which won't help the child); correct me if I'm wrong. But, as I stated before, her expectations are unrealistic, considering the circumstances.

As far as the CNN stuff, perhaps that judge was thinking that the man served in the father role for 3 years. Sounds like he knew what he was getting into when he married her. However, I don't think he should have to pay child support for a child that's not his. Depending on the circumstances, (let's say, if she had a newborn when he met her, he knew it wasn't his child because of what I previously stated, & he didn't want her to work during the marriage) and then after 3 years, he just got up and left her high & dry, then yes, I think he should assist in supporting her at least until she gets on her feet. (Here comes the heat...)

Frat,

The child support formula is based on the income of the mother and father. I agree that $3000 is a great deal of money but hell just think how much JJ earns per year.

Tickledpink,

I think your opinion is fair. I wish more people would think realistically about this like you have.
