Where are they?

Hey yall, where my "black leaders" at? Any body seen Farrakhan, or Jesse, or anybody else that supposed to be our leaders? They aint in Cincinnati!

I hope Farrakhan is okay. You know he has had Prostate Cancer for a few years. It was speculated that interview he gave with 60 minutes a few months ago was his way to come to terms with his possible demise, because of his condition and all.

Jesse...well he came out of the woodworks to think he was gonna go over to China to release those military people. NOT!
Don't know where he is...probably playing da-da! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif (no offense to the da-das out there)

Untrue, Kweisi Mfume was there. Not sure about the others, but I'd be willing to bet that Farrakhan or a representative of his is addressing the situation.

I saw Kweisi Mfume on an interview this weekend along with a representative of the city police. The officer could not pronounce Kweisi's name (hell I can't spell it nor say it myself) and he was pissed. Finally, the officer remarked that he had difficulty with the name. The interview was heated. I've always thought Mfume to be a great person. If I had to select a black to represent me, he would certainly be my choice before JJ and and the brother with the rod set.

But, I was always told that when one cannot or does not take the time out to learn how to CORRECTLY pronounce your name, that it shows disrespect. Especially, among public/political figures. Example, Farrakhan..I have heard on many shows (ie CNN cross fire, etc), political, etc. that have pronounced his name as Far-a-kan. Normally, this mispronunciation came from the "side" that is AGAINST his views/ideology.

I get mad too when people mispronounce my name. So, I can feel Mfume on that one! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I agree. I remember George Bush sr. screwing up Sadam Hussein's name; and it sounded like he was doing it purposely.

He was...apparently the 'other' pronunciation is a slur (any Arabic speakers in the house?).
