Informal Rush
Is there anyone out there who prefers informal to formal rush?

My chapter did both... I always vastly preferred informal rush, because you can have long conversations with PNMs and really get to know them - and they you - without constantly interrupting yourself to chant, cheer, participate in a skit, or hustle a PNM to the door because the party is over. |
I think formal recruitment is fun, but my chapter has found that we do a lot better with informal. This a lot has to do with the fact that we get to know girls a lot better, and we seem to attract girls who never planned to join a sorority and in turn never would go through formal.

Formal recruitment brings out the 'beast' in everyone though. I hate seeing people upset over silly stuff like 'the volcano for the beach scene looks like it's about to crash because someone didn't hold the molding long enough' or 'you're supposed to wear red ribbons with the red shirt. . .nothing else'.
To me, it's all a pain in the wazoo. Oh well, that's the way the story goes. I love informal. A simple decoration, coordinated shirts, jeans, and sandals. Not having to promise a girl a bid only to find out two weeks later that she's a borderline thug or complete whiner who doesn't really want to work. . .just wants to have letters plastered across their chest. A chance to hang out with the girls past one week of yelling and screaming. Informal rush. Aaaaah, the good life. |
