big sis's
Just a happy little thread...I was initated this fall, freshman year..it was all so exciting. This semester we have 8 new girls (which is alot b/c our campus is small and we have 3 nat'l sor. and1 local). This semester i got the opprotunity to be a big sister to one of our new girls..i had an awesome big when i went through and i want my little to have the same good experience. Any ideas on what i can do to make her new member time as fully memorable as mine was?

Awesome thread!
Can I suggest a journal? My sorority did journals for the new members -- when my big would leave me a note and a little gift during Inspiration Week, she'd leave me a note in the journal. I'd write back, (usually they were left at another sister's house) and now I can look back on the whole thing and remember things I forgot. |
I always spoil my littles. I got two this semester. . .everyone fighting over me.
I leave mine little chessy notes and goodie bags all of the time. people are pissed when they find out that i'm the bestest big. Instead of the typical t-shirt with letters, I got my sisters athletic hoodies with Phi Sig on the front and their nicknames my littles have matching rings. . .when they get their littles. . they will give them a ring. . . |
When I got my littel I gave her a hoodie with her pledge class embroidered on the sleeve, letters on the front, and her pledge name on the back. It was so cute and she loved it!!
One tradition that I am trying to get my sorority to carry on is to have the bigs collect pictures of their littles and make them a photo album to illustrate their pledge program. |
We gave daily gifts to our little sisters for a week. These gifts were things that were important to the sorority and to the big sister as an individual. At the end of the week, the sorority would reveal who the bigs were to the littles. Things like a journal, date book, photo album, or picture frame in sorority colors or with our mascot were very popular gifts. :)
