ADPI gear??
 

Hiya ladies, I'm sorry to crash your board, but it's for good news :-) I have a friend of mine that for a long time said she'd not go greek and yadda yadda yadda :rolleyes: but the other day we were talking and she told me about how there were some Alpha Delta Pi girls that won her over and that she was pledging. I am so excited for her because I know she'll be really happy and love finding sisterhood as much as I have.......
Here's my question for you all.....I know we have rules as far uninitated sisters not being able to wear our crest, but they can wear our letters, and yet I know of other GLO's that don't allow uninitated sisters to wear their entire letter set. I really want to get my friend something to show her how excited I am for her, but I don't want to step on any toes, get her in trouble, or get her something she can't use for a long time......if you can't tell me, that's cool, but other ideas would be helpful. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know too much about your org, we only have Pi Phi and DG at our campus :( Also, any ideas for websites or catalogs that have cool, yet reasonably priced items, would be awesome as well.

hey! that is awesome about your friend... i just had a friend who had been reserved about the whole greek thing before just accept a bid from my chapter on friday... i'm so excited to call her my sister :D

nationally, adpi's are allowed to wear letters as soon as they are new members, though i *have* heard that some chapters prefer their new members to wear adpi rather than the greek letters at first... the only thing that is absolute is that new members cannot wear or display the crest/coat of arms until they are initiated. so anything else should be okay! the best place to get official adpi gear is from giftmart, which adpi runs, and from which part of the profits go to our international philanthropy.... the address is www.adpigiftmart.com so check that out :)

anything with violets, or azure (light-not navy!) blue and white, or clasped hands, or diamonds (like this: <>) would make a nice gift! also you can't forget lions, i have so many stuffed lions i don't know what to do with them though, so maybe something unique with those types of things, or maybe something with dg and adpi colors or symbols, like a frame and you could put a pic of the two of you in it? something that is common on my campus for friends in different sororities is for a friend to make two sets of letters, her own and her friends from the same fabric on the same type of sweat shirt so that you can match :D

also you can find different items and fun stuff on the other greek gift websites, such as greek gear express, frat row, collegiate gifts.com, campus cargo, sorority heaven, etc, etc, etc... if you do a search for key words including adpi you should find tons of stuff... congrats to your friend!

I know that there is a store in Houston that has a lot of cool stuff. the website is www.joetoga.com they are trying to get slippers. I think they are super cute and they mail out to all over!

you might not want to get her anything that has the actually greek letters on it, especially letters sweatshirts or butt-shorts with the letters stictched on. This is HUGE no-no in our chapter although nationally it is kind of ok. And like stated above, the crest is off limits.

I really like sweetie adpi's idea of a frame with both DG and ADPi on it - it's a shame that more "combo" things like that aren't done.

Another suggestion is to look on ebay for violets. Right now, I have a few Mikasa heart shaped jewelry/candy dishes with violets that cost from $1.99 to 12.99 each (on the bid)! They are simply gorgeous! I had intended to get one for AI, as they've recently remodeled, but I liked it too much, so bid for more!

I would recommend buying her a cute stuffed lion, or something with violets on them (picture frame, even a pot of violets). I know that personally, I would like either of these!

Thank you all for all of your help! You've got some great ideas and I'm so excited about getting going on some of them. Kind of a funny little twist of fate, I was talking to my big sis about how excited i was for Carissa and she asked me what GLO she was joining and when I told her, she told me that her REAL big sis is an ADPi. How fun is that? Apparenly I have more ties to sisters in your organization than I realized
