Tax Time!!!
Here is a link for all of those people who like me have not started making the BIG BUCKS yet! The Intuit Tax Freedom Project lets you file your taxes on line for FREE! Yes, I said free!!! The company uses TurboTax to do the filing. Here's how you qualify, according to the site:
If you are one of the approximately 60 million American taxpayers with an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $27,000 or less for 2002, or who can claim the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), you qualify! The EITC is a tax credit that's available to taxpayers with low earnings. Not everyone is eligible, but it's worth exploring; you could qualify for a credit of as much as $4,140 which might even trigger a refund! If you're wondering if you qualify, review the details we've included in Common Questions The link for the website is: http://www.taxfreedom.com I have used it and I did get money back. Hopefully someone else can benefit! :) |
If you have an AGI of 30,000 or less you can file taxes for free. For the teachers on the board, there are deductions for work related supplies. If any of you have relatives who are IRS employees, you can get your taxes filed for free regardless of income, as long as you give your tax information to that relative, and that relative doesn't mind dealing with you.
Filing electronically reduces the possibility of errors and refunds are received faster. Make sure your bank routing number and account numbers are correct for direct deposit. If you file the old fashioned way, please make sure you: 1. Sign your return 2. If you are married and using your married name, make sure this information is accurate with the SSA. 3. Make sure all social security numbers on the return are correct. 4. If your itemized deductions are smaller than the standard deductions, please don't itemize. Slows down the time you will get your refund. 5. If you are single with no dependents or qualifiers, please don't file head of household because you pay all the bills at your house. Your filing status is single. 6. If you have divorced, make sure all contact information has been changed. Many people do not realize if your status was married filing jointly, the check will automatically go to the husband's address even if you are no longer together. 7. Did I mention to sign your return? Can't you tell I work for the IRS? :p |
thanks for posting this info! pushing to the top so it may help someone else. :)
