Once your paperwork is sent to EO, you need to wait for the members of the Executive Council to meet.

Since the Council Members don't all live in Columbus, Ohio (where DG's Executive Office is), I think they meet 4x a year. I'm not sure when they next meet, but perhaps if you ask around, someone should know (or I suppose, you could call EO and ask?)

I would imagine that when they next meet, your application for alumnae initiation would be one of the items of business on the agenda.

After they meet, the decision will likely be communicated to you in a letter. If you don't hear, say, in about 4-5 months, I would try to follow up, to make sure that any correspondence was not lost in the mail, etc.

4-5 months!

I suppose I'll just have to wait then. I was hoping it would be a bit quicker than that.

thanks for the advice!

Marie

I'm not Pink and Blue, but I'm gonna respond! :D

Pink and Blue:
Could I ask what your formal invitation was like? Was it a letter or verbal? From EO or from the alumnae group?

It was a letter from Delta Gamma's VP: Alumnae. It was a written letter (as opposed to a Bid Card that a collegian in Formal Recruitment would get).

I wonder if the fact that my local alumna chapter submitted the paperwork and recommendations will speed things up?
I don't think it makes a difference, as Council has to meet, so that's where the waiting is....you need to wait for them to next get together. My sponsors sent in their forms directly to EO.

I still can't believe this is all happening! I'm just darn excited! (and impatient!!)
Patience is a virtue, cherie! Deep breaths! :)
I put forth my application for alumnae initiation in October/November....and I heard in mid February....

If DG is anything like my sorority, the EO or EC may have monthly conference calls-- so you might not have to wait too long! Especially with three recommendation letters. CONGRATS! You're almost there!
