Greeks, and the SUPER BOWL!!
well the super bowl is in SD this year, and i can tell you that for weeks it has been POPIN' down here!! there has been huge tents set up in the stadium parking lot for weeks, there is super bowl this and super bowl that...
the cool thing is that there are Greeks in the mix... my fraternity president just filmed the MTV tailgate show today, and he also is doing the half-time show as well. the alpha phi sorority was asked to be a part of the half-time show as well. my roommate's girlfriend, who is an alpha phi, is doing it. she got back tonight from rehearsal and told me that her and a bunch of her alpha phi sisters will be in the stands when shania twain comes up and sings. she said that shania even sings to her sister!!! how cool is this!!!! i think it is all a lil surreal for us in SD because all we hear about now is the events leading up to the game. my friend who lives downtown keeps telling me how the club scene is going off!! when the game is on it will be a trip knowing that it is actually happening only 10 minutes away..... anyway, this is my post. |
Yay Alpha Phis!!!!!!!!! :D
It sounds like a lot of fun! Live it up Josh! |
it's really exciting down here- a know a bunch of the sororities are participating in the half time show (I don't get to though :( had class during all the practice times, lol)... hope everyone has a fun (and safe, for those in SD) super bowl time!

it is so going off here. down town is popin' all the time, but since it is super bowl it is times 10 and a half!!! last night i went to see unwritten law for free at the bud bowl, and tonight i am going back to see POD. should be good. i love this, the super bowl should always be in sd!!

But yeah, San Diego has been regarded as one of the best Super Bowl cities. DOn't they normally have the SB in a city where the home team usually doesn't have a chance to make it to the SB? San Diego just seems all the more fitting then lol. |
Traditionally, the NFL selects Super Bowl host cities that have stadiums that can seat over 70,000 and are usually in milder Sunbelt climates... you ain't gonna see a Super Bowl played in 'the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field', as the booming baritone voice of the late John Facenda once said (he was the famous narrator of NFL films in the 70s).

Super Bowl Winners!
Tampa Bay Bucs Are #1! Super Bowl 37 Champs!
All I have to say is that the people of Tampa are the best fans in the whole wide world. USF Greeks were partying it up all day and rooting for the home team! It's about Buc-in' time! KD Loves the Bucs! |
i had so much fun today.
you could totally see my roommates girlfriend on tv during the halftime show. and after the national anthem we could hear the roar of the jets as they flew over our house before ther got to the stadium for the fly-by... hope everyone had a good time today! |

I also attended one in Detroit -- and it was unbelievably cold, although the (indoor) parties were great. I heard on the radio that the NFL was considering having the game at the Meadowlands. The only thing that would make that work is the relative proximity to NYC. Of course, it was 65 degrees here in Denver yesterday and the game could have been played here. Too bad we can't guarantee that kind of weather! This would be a dynamite venue. Edited to point out that three Delts have been named Super Bowl MVP...Jim Plunkett (Raiders), Mark Ripien (Redskins)(I'm sure I spelled his name incorrectly, but don't have time to look it up), and John Elway (Broncos). |
