Graduating Seniors!!
 

So I am already counting down the days til graduation! Just wondering if there are any others out there who are graduating in May - and how bad your Senioritis is? :p Also what are your plans for after graduation? (I suppose they should include joining an alumnae chapter!)

Here are my plans: I will be getting a BS in geology. I sent all my grad school apps out over Christmas break (applying to grad school is expensive!!), and now I am just waiting to hear back. It's so nervewracking! Wish me luck!

I'm graduating in May. For me, it's bittersweet. I'm excited to get out because my senioritis is soooooo bad. I just can't take another semester of an awful professor who speaks in broken English. At the same time, I'll definitely miss college because it's been A LOT of fun. Also, I have to join the real world. :eek:
The economy is just so bad right now that it's been so hard for people with BSBA degrees to get jobs. Many corporations are looking for someone with an MBA but many schools require work experience prior to you getting your MBA. It's a Catch-22. I've been sending out resumes to just about every corporation like it's my hobby; I'm just crossing my fingers that someone wants to hire me. Hopefully, I'll find a good job within the Central Florida area. After working for a few years, I will then go back to school and get my MBA.
Dianne- I hope you get into the grad school of your choice!

ZTAngel - where in central florida are you looking? I live in the Tampa Bay area and you're right, jobs are hard to find. I graduated in Dec. 01 and still have yet to find a 1/2 decent paying job. I was supposed to start paying back my tuition allready, but had to deffer for another year. Oh, what are you getting your degree in?

I'm looking at Orlando specifically. If I can't find anything there, my next choice would be to go back to South Florida and find a job there (Miami-Ft.Lauderdale-West Palm).
I'm getting my degree in Marketing but I'm keeping my options open as to what I want to do after graduation. A lot of my friends want a job specifically in Marketing. The problem with that is there are hardly any entry-level Marketing jobs unless you want to do sales. Many Marketing positions require a billion years of experience or a MBA. My school held a career fair yesterday. We had to fill out these name tags which included our name and major. I put Business Administration on mine. Technically, that's what I am since I will have a BSBA degree. :) I was just afraid that if I put Marketing down the people who were in financial services or HR wouldn't even give me a chance.

I graduate in May as well as ya'll with a nifty degree in English. I was also a double major in Elem. Edu. but will not be getting my certification before I graduate (long story...) so I may be coming back next fall to cold and snowy PA to student teach, take a PRAXIS exam or two and live on campus once again. If that doesn't work out, and it may not, I'm already looking for different teaching jobs and programs where certification is not required. I would really like to get my certification asap so I hope that all works out, plus a semester more with my littles and younger friends would be fun!

The big question everyone wants to know is if I'm coming back to Florida to be by the family, staying near school, or moving near the boyfriend near NYC, or someplace else...and really I do not know! I'm looking at jobs everywhere and I think wherever I get a job I will go!

As far as Senioritis...with 4 reading intensive classes to finish up my major I don't have time to slack off but I sure want to!

I don't know if y'all's chapters do this, but we have Senior Happy Hour every week. It's fun because we're all from basically the same pledge class, everyone's 21 by now, and - well - there's drinking involved. ;) Does anyone else do this?

Good luck with finding the jobs. The great thing about being a science major is that you (usually) get paid to go to grad school. If it wasn't that way, I'd be in the same boat as the rest of y'all. (BTW, my boyfriend is a marketing major, too, and he is freaking out about a job - he's not ecstatic about having to go into sales.)

At least 2 of the 5 seniors on campus end up at wing night (tuesdays) with the other 21+ zetas and it's real fun. The only other girl in my new member class who is left and fellow senior is student teaching this semester so she's getting up early and not a lot of wing nights! I miss her tons!!!

The problem with us seniors going to the bar as senior events announced via the sorority is the rest of the chapter thinks we're just a bunch of lushes! LOL hardly the case....there's a rift btwn the 21ers and the underagers tho kinda which stinks big time

oh my god, y'all!!! I have an update! I found out yesterday that I have been accepted to my first choice grad school, the University of California at Santa Cruz!! Woo-hoo!!! And they are flying me out to visit at the end of the month - spring break in cali...life is good!!!

Thought I would share the joy with my Zeta sisters! :D

Well the boy has agreed to come with me (isn't that nice of him) as long as he can get a job...which may prove harder than me getting into grad school. This, of course, does not make his parents happy, but they can get over it. They want him to come back to NJ. :p

My mom is excited for me, but she just wishes I wasn't going so far away. Typical mom! It reminds of a time during my senior year of HS - we were cooking dinner and she started crying. When I asked what was wrong, she said, "I just know that when you graduate and move out, you're never going to come back!" And, well, she's probably right, but I promised I would visit A LOT. My dad and stepmom are psyched b/c now they have an excuse to visit the Bay Area. My sisters (both real and Zeta) see it as a good excuse to come visit Cali, too.

Oh yeah, I will working towards a PhD in geology, specializing in geophysics and remote sensing...god, that makes me sound like the biggest nerd!!

So, we only have about a month to go. (I graduate on May 3). Who else is as scared, nervous, and not ready to graduate as I am????

I made a countdown last night...39 days for me (May 17th).
I have summer plans...going to Colorado and living with my cousin...but no plans whatsoever for after then :(
