How strong is your hood II
Read "How strong is your hood". If you were left in a foreign prison, would your bruhs/sorors come back for you?
|
I thought this interesting, so I'll put in my lil viewpoint.
Wow, this is a deep question. I am not Greek as of yet, but this makes me wonder, does this process that I hope to undergo, does it form a bond THAT strong? People don't even do this for their family, best friends, spouses, tu sabe? I don't mean to question anybody's Greek integrity by questioning your processes, this is just coming from someone on the outside. It's really easy to say you'd go back. But would you really submit yourself to that? Could you bring yourself back to a place where you know you'll probably be starved, beaten, tortured, and raped? Who has the nerve, the courage, or the craziness to do that to themselves? Who will take care of your family while you're gone? But then, how do you live with yourself knowing you left ANY human being behind, whether it's your frat/soror or not? I am interested to see people's replies. Good question. Asia2G |

I've been in my fraternity for a long time now; and I've seen many brothers practice what they preach. They've shown unbelievable brotherhood; and then there are those that took the letters and ran-perpetrating while trying to impress their friends. This happens in all fraternities and sororities. To each his/her own. I know the reality of it. I know what to expect from it. I just wanted to get some people to think about the responsibility of selling brotherhood and sisterhood, and what prospective people expect from it. Remember Pledging vs. Intake? Yall feel me? |
Like my soror PositivelyAKA said in reference to PART I...
If they were made right, THEY WOULD! But, given...(lemme close my mouth) |

This is heading back into a direction that people don't want to go back into( membership vs. pledging) But let me say this. If you went through a certain process of recognizing that your brother is in need, It would be like a natural reaction.

CERTAINLY!

Looking at the people I'm closest to, there'd be a boat/plane full of sorors and bruhs coming back for me!

Brother man
Why do you even have to ask this question, remember " He ain't heavy,He's my brother".This is not about who will come to help me,but " how quick will I come to the aide of my Brother. The letter themselves mean more to me than the individual.I've accepted intake as the way things are now.I would never question if a brother was pledged or went intake,if he needed my help I would be there. The strength of "MY Hood" as you call it depends on me,not my brothers. If it's weak, then it's because I'm weak. lil something to think about.06. |

I was thinking about this mess over the weekend. What if it the sentence was longer than three years? What if it were 33 years, like that movie with the two girls were in Thailand? Now, that took some serious thought. And I still don't have an answer for that one. 33 years is a long time. So here's my question to you all . . . how would the sentence affect your decision? Would it make a difference how long the sentence was? Would you still go back if it was 33 years instead of only 3? |

But the question had nothing to do with the intake process; read it again, and you'll see. But since you brought it up, do you believe the way people become members has no bearing on their decision to return and serve their time, or do you think it makes a difference? Much to think about...06! |
Hello all:
Yeah, I'd go back regardless of the sentencing and regardless of the organization in which my "friends" belonged. If I had any doing in the situation, then I'd go back and serve time. I couldn't have my friend/Soror put to death by hanging because I don't have any 'hood. My question is how did this person get caught with a large amount of hash and weed if we smoked it together? Okay, so I am digressing, just thought of that when I read the scenarion again. Hmmm... I'd go back anyways. If the sentence was three years, we'd just be doing time. If the sentencing was 33 years, I'd go back, then devise a plan, with my "friends"/Sorors of course, to escape to another country where we'd be fugitives forever... I know it sounds like I am crazy, but I am really serious. I would go back but I'd have to at least try to come up with something. It may not be during years one and two but geesh after like 15-20 years, one HAS to know the system inside and out...I'd try to devise a plan straight Shawshank Redemption stylee. It's late. Goodnight. |
