The "hook"

Greetings to the men of Omega Psi Phi, fraternity inc. (and anyone else that reads this). I have a question for you all regarding the "hook."

I work at ESPN and with the NFL playoffs in full effect (as we speak the Titans are down 14-10), a lot of my white counterparts are imitating what they see on television. I have to explain to them that they can not go around imitating Omega players like McNair and others when they throw up the hook.

The next question I get is, "why not?" I simply say, "because they'll beat ya' ass!!!" No seriously I don't say that but I do tell them that it would be in their best interest not to do it.

My question to you all is how do you feel about your frat brothers throwing up the hook in football and basketball games and what do you do when you see someone that you know is not a member, imitate it?

Just something I'd thought I'd throw out.

Go Titans!!!!

Its a double-edged sword. I know that I get hyped when the Bruhs represent, but its funny when others try and imitate. There are white people in the stands at Titans games that tell McNair to "Cue the Crowd". They even spell it wrong. I remember when one of the commentators on ESPN named Sean Salisbury threw up the hooks back in Sept. I guess a Sigma had scored and was flapping wings like a dove. Salisbury said, "I don't know what he's doing, but I know that this means "Que Dog" and proceeded to throw up the hooks. I know some Bruhs that didn't appreciated, but I just laughed. It just show that the Bruhs are original, identifiable, and unforgettable. Regretably though, you get fools like those clowns at Auburn. What you did was right. Explain that its not a cool thing for them to do. I remeber when Kobe Bryant did it in high school after a dunk. He had no idea what he was doing. He just thought it was cool.

A little explanation never hurt anyone.

I remember that too frat. Kobe that is. Its funny when I was in HS, waaaay back n 93 I remember the football team used to throw up the hooks all the time, I didnt really know what it meant then, but when I looked back in an annual a couple weeks ago it was so funny one of the guys throwing the hooks up in that same pic is an alpha now, I rolled after I saw that! I love seeing the bruhs doing that shyt in games and such, but you know how people are when they just don't know, they just don't know!
