Recruitment

Hey!

Im new to the boards and I would like to ask a question about recruitment. Im from the Xi Chi chapter at RMU. We are a small school with a small turn out every year. We are about to start spring recruitment, and want a good class. Does anyone have ideas for a theme or slogan we can use? Thanks for any help in advance!
In DZ and mine,
Stacy

Welcome to GreekChat and the DZ forum, Stacy! :) Right now, I don't have any theme ideas, but I'll rack my brain tonight and see what I can come up with for you.

In the meantime, good luck with Rush plans! Don't worry about having a small turnout -- just concentrate on making sure that the girls you rush are DZ material. "Quality not quantity" was always my chapter's motto! :D

I just remembered a theme that we used for our informal Spring Rush during my first year in DZ. It was a luau theme, and all of the sisters dressed up in Hawaiian clothing... some were really outrageous with loud Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, and sunglasses, sporting cameras around their necks like tourists and others wore really pretty casual sundresses. The only thing that we wore in common were the leis around our necks. I liked it because our choice of clothing gave rushees an insight into our individual personalities, and helped to show them that we weren't just a cookie-cutter type of chapter.

We did a limbo contest, had fruity "mocktails" for refreshments, and just mixed and mingled with the rushees. It was a lot of fun. :)

I know it's a little late for this semester's rush, but maybe you can use it next year.

At my chapter in the last year or two, we've done different themes such as the Hawaiian theme, but also a Winter Wonderland. We went ice skating, had hot chocolate, dressed in pink and green scarves, mitts, hats. And for an Information Session we held for potential new members, we decorated the room in white, created the illusion of snow, and just did wintery decorations. We also provided hot chocolate and snacks.

It was a really cute theme, and it looked great.

Hope it helps someone.

Nancy
