Beta Theta Pi

What are the Betas like on your campus (if we are there at all)?

EGDeepher 01-14-2003 12:38 PM

The Betas at my school are cool guys. Moslty blonde pretty boys though.

Blaire 01-14-2003 12:54 PM

Diverse, down-to-earth, cute and they throw the best parties!

White_Chocolate 01-14-2003 02:07 PM

really laidback
but they kind of get overlooked by the 'big names'
there's SAE, TKE, Sigma Chi, and PIKE here
next to them and Phi Tau
Beta and Kappa Sigma get overlooked

When I was at school which was not too long ago (like 4 yrs ago)
the Betas were great. They weren't a big chapter but to get a bid from Beta was like gold. They all have money and are very "modellike" and most drive BMW's or nice SUV. There is a sense of prestigue when it comes to being a Beta. As a pledge the slogan is..."one for all, all for one" if one went to a party they all went to the party, as a pledge they also had to dress alike everyday. Hell they even had the navy blazer that every single one of them wore on special occassions...they get this blazer when they pledge. BUT my last year they got really caught up in cocaine and kinda went down hill from there. A few years later they had a brother die in a car accident and they got their shi* together real fast. Now they are on the "Men of Principle" plan and are getting their shi* together. So when you think Beta at my school...think the rich kids from like pretty in pink, it was similar.

Betas lost their charter at UCR about 2 years ago, but they were a great group of guys for the most part. They were a smaller chapter (about 20-30 members as opposed to 40-70), but they were strong and well-known and well-liked, even by other fraternities. There were a few bad apples- the guy who would sleep around with any girl he could, the guy that all the girls loved and all the fraternity guys hated because he was so nice, the guy who had all the money and that's what the girls would go for, and a druggie here or there- but they were generally a great group of guys! My ex, who's still a good friend of mine, was a Beta, and was President for a while and I loved hanging out with him and the guys. They threw great parties, had an awesome formal my freshman year (Tropicana in Vegas.... so much fun...), and I miss them! :-( I guess they lost their charter over money, and then they kicked out a bunch of guys for drugs and bad grades, so when they tried to rush, being a fraternity of 9 or 10 guys, it didn't look too good and they gave up. You still see one or two of them in letters once in a while... I really do miss them. :-(

The Beta's at my school (Mizzou) are a really strong chapter, but they never really socialize with anyone. They have a lot of money (with alums like Sam Walton I wonder why? ) Basically they are considered the "rich pretty boys" who are sort of stuck up. That's just their rep though, I only know one of them, and he seemed all right. But my best guy friend from home is a Beta at the U of Iowa so I have a special place in my heart for Beta's. :D

My ex-boyfriend was a beta at UCF and I thought the boys where were so sweet and fun to be around. Now the Betas at Wright State (which is not that far from UD) are not the greatest chapter. I heard they need a lot of help.

The Betas on my campus (SJSU) were AWESOME! They are a small chapter (20 members or less, I think), but have a very strong brotherhood, and always made me feel welcome in their home. They're very down to earth, and unlike some OTHER fraternities on campus you don't feel like you have to be "fake" to be welcomed there. I even married one of them, so I guess that tells you something!

The Betas at Bethany are a really nice, fun bunch of guys. They take a lot of pride in their organization, more than any other fraternity on campus imho. You can tell they all care about each other a lot, and I think that's cool. Plus, they always seem to have the really cute pledges. :)

The Betas at Bethany (I *think* Psi chapter) is the longest continuous Beta chapter in the country. Fun fact for all of ya'll :)

At my school (Michigan State) they are some of the cutiest men you have ever seen. They are loved by a lot of sororities.

kiqualey12 01-14-2003 06:51 PM

The Beta's at EWU are all very cute and gentlemen. They throw pretty good parties and are nice. Maybe my opinion is just biased because I really like one particular Beta at my school... Oh, and don't let my big know that I like Beta's. A bunch of our girls always say ****ing Beta's! Bad boyfriend's I've heard.

The Beta Theta Pi chapter at the University of Houston is pretty much non-existent. I can’t recall the last time they represented at any function. I’ve herd rumors in IFC Exec meetings in regards to their national charter status; I just hope their nationals send down a recovery team before it’s too late.

I'm a Beta, Beta Psi, at WVU. The reaction I get from most of the sorority girls I know is that we are the gentlemen on campus. When you get invited to a party thrown by us, the ladies don't have to worry about someone spiking their drink or taking advantage of them. We have good relations with most sororities on campus, with the exception of one or two.

Moxie, as far as I know ;) ,the oldest continous chapter of Beta (and of any fraternity) is the Washington and Jefferson Chapter.

Well if you want the truth, here it is. The betas in ottawa used to have a strong presence but went downhill a lot over the years. Known as trouble-makers, they would pick fights with anyone and were hated by every group except one sorority.
