Savannah, GA

My mom and I are planning to go to Savannah, GA in the summer of 2003. We need some ideas of what to do there! Any help would be appreciated! :)

Stay in a Bed and Breakfast!

We spent 2 nights in a Savannah B&B and the next night in a hotel in Tybee Island. The B&B prices are about the same as some hotels but I liked the atmosphere.

Juliette Gordon Low's house was very interesting. Maybe it won't be full of Girl Scouts, lol. She and I have the same birthday so I've always been interested in her. Did you know that she got a piece of rice stuck in her ear at her wedding and that resulted in her going deaf (okay, I hope I remembered that correctly, :) ).

Do a websearch. Savannah has some great tourism webpages to help you save money.

Hilton Head SC is just up the coast!

Warning, it does get very hot and muggy in the summer! And look out for mosquitos.

Check out the fake ID wall at Wet Willy's; it’s always good for a laugh.

Get drunk and party. Moms love that kinda shit.

There's plenty to do in Savannah...
Aside from the nearby islands (Tybee, St. Simons) that offer relaxing setting and great golf, there are the historical homes in the city that dates back to Oglethorpe.

There are also tours of the homes and cemetereies in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", and tours of the places Sherman went in his March to the Sea. Or you could just chill in the restaurants and clubs on River Street.

If you haven't read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, please do before you go. It's a really good read. It's one of my favorite books.
There - I have made my librarian recommendation for the day.

I wouldn't say St Simons is that close to Savannah. It is alot closer to Brunswick than Savannah. River street is a great tourist area with alot of bars and candy stores.
