Policy or Clause Question

First of all, i'm a Phi Sig and inquiring for a friend.

Do you guys have a policy, bylaw, etc. that states something along the lines of multiculturalism or diversity? The reason I'm asking is because I have a friend who is interested in joining a sorority at St Louis University(where KD has a chapter) but she doesn't think that she can get in because of color differences.

I just need something just to show her she's wrong. And that Panhellic sororities are open to all races. . .not just. . .well, you know.

Thanks.

I think every sorority has a clause such as this somewhere.... I don't have an manuals around. I'm positive KD has one somewhere.

I don't think any sorority CAN discriminate b/c of race, creed, etc. and still be a part of NPC.

I don't know what the culture of the school is and how many minorities go through rush.

If she doesn't rush, she'll never know if she could've or not. There's a great chance she could get in somewhere. Sometimes being a minority might even help on some levels- everyone's always looking for diversity. But if she does rush, and does get cut, make sure she knows that it was not because of her race. As a sorority member yourself you know how many facets of a potential new member. I don't want her to have a bad experience and think that it was because of her race. We'll see if anyone else can answer better, i'm having trouble writing this morning. Must be a case of the Saturdays :)

This is a subject close to my heart. I am a minority myself and pledged Kappa Delta. Tell your friend to go through the pledging process. Just because she is of a different color than the rest of the sisters doesn't mean she can't find her home. I know I did! I wish her the best!
