Recruitment Advice

After dropping out from fall recruitment and going independent for a semester, I'm going to go through spring recruitment at UW-Madison, where the following sororities are participating:
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Phi
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Sigma Delta Tau

I'm really looking forward to spring recruitment and I'm hoping that this time, things work out for me for recruitment. There's a sorority in particular that I liked that I would love to get into, but I'm still going to keep an open mind. Does anyone have any advice for me about recruitment or anything to say about these sororities (those shameless plug? :P) Thanks! :)

Keep an open mind, be yourself, and wear comfortable shoes! Good luck! :)

Hey, thanx for the advice so far! I'll keep u updated on recruitment when it starts, but it's not 'til Jan 29 and bid day is Feb 5...I don't know if I can wait! :)

Ok, I just went through rush last semester and even though chances are you will 99% not follow this advice: wear comfortable shoes! If it is the type of sisterhood worth joining, they are not going to discriminate whether you are wearing 3 inch strappy heels or simple flats. If you have blisters on your feet and are having to go up stairs for a house tour, you will be in major pain yet have to smile through it anyways. Looks like you have some great houses to choose from. Be yourself, and I am sure you will do fine.

I went through COB rush when I joined. I really liked it. It's a lot more informal and you get to know everyone better on a more personal level. If you have a good feeling about a group, then go for it!

I'm really looking forward to getting to know the houses better with COB! I really do hope things go well and I will find a house that's for me this time! :)

You have some great options there.

COB rush is so different from formal rush - so much more relaxed. I joined my sorority via COB after dropping out of formal rush. With COB (from both sides) I always found I was able to have real conversations without constantly getting interrupted by singing, skits, and rho chis.

I second the recommendation for comfortable shoes.

Best of luck, and be sure to keep us posted! (I love rush threads :D )

Isn't Sugar and Spice a Tri-Delt at UW-Madison? She can probably tell you about events at her house.

Hope you are having a great time in college regardless of Greek life...you're truly in one of America's great college towns.

Ivy

Yeah, she is. I am having a great time in college though, thanks! I can't wait to go back...5 more days 'til I move back in!

Just a little bit of info from our rush chair -- I don't know how much info the email you got from Panhel had, so here's what recruitment looks like for my chapter. (I'm pretty sure this is the correct schedule, but things might still be shifted around a little more -- everything is a little messy right now.) I wish I had more information for you, but since this is my first time rushing on the other side, I'm about as clueless as you are!

January 28 - Info Tables
January 29 - Open House (probably 6-10 pm?)
January 30 - Party
February 1 - Party (afternoon)
February 4 - "Pref Round" style party
February 5 - Bid Day

I'm glad fall semester went so well for you -- it was kind of crazy for me but I definitely had lots of fun!
