I met an awesome distinguished AGD!!

As many of you know, I am pretty darn political. One day I was looking at our distinguished AGD's page on the IHQ site and I saw that Millie Jeffries is a sister of ours!! Millie Jeffries is considered the "oldest living Michigan Democrat". She is this awesome political activist who is president of the Michigan Women's Foundation, founder of the women's political caucus, a 2000 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipent and recieved AGD distinguished citizen in 1995! She's like in her 80's and the spunkiest thing ever!! She's so proud of her medal from Clinton that she wears it at any fancy event! Everyone loves her and she is like the cheerleader for Michigan Democrats!
Well anyway, I knew her before I knew she was an Alpha Gam, but I ran into her at the Gubenatorial Inaugural Ball this past saturday and I was like "Millie I found out a special thing we have in common" and I whispered some words to her that only an initiated know, if you get my drift. And her eyes lit up and she was so excited and she was like "nobody ever brings that up to me anymore!!" and she gave me this huge hug and we talked about where I was at school and where she went to school and all that good stuff and I was like "Millie, you were an inspiration to me before, but I have to say that it means so much more to me now to fight for the same causes that you do b/c of our bond" And she gave me this huge hug and was like "that is so wonderful to hear, my little Alpha Gam sister!!!" and then I got a picture with her!
It was neat to meet her and it really does make me want to work even harder b/c she is my sister and she has done so much for all that I believe in!
I haven't developed the picture, but I'll try to scan it and post it when I get it. I'm already planning on sending a copy to IHQ! Hopefully I'll also be a distinguished citizen one day and it will be quite a historical picture!!

Oh My Goodness!

THAT is what sisterhood is all about.

The 2004 Convention should be wonderful!

It's always awesome when you find out that one of your role models is a fellow sister.

If only I could have been there when you whispered those words to her!

That's why I can't wait for Chicago 2004!

That is sooo cool

I like to think that I am political and I have my moments and I thought meeting Senator Ford from Kentucky was cool but that is awesome! I really wish that I had been there to see that.
