Also running into A Phis, only ones that I know
While I was home over break, I was talking to my best friend and she mentioned that one of her friends joined Alpha Phi at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I was pretty surprised to hear this because she had started off at Northern Illinois (and I thought she was still there) and a bunch of her friends joined Delta Gamma. UIUC was actually my second choice and I had always wondered if I would have joined Alpha Phi there, let alone gone Greek (I know some guys there who are in fraternities and they compare being Greek to being in a gang).
Yesterday I stopped into Bath and Body Works to make a return for my mom and I saw a girl I had played soccer with for a few years in high school, and had also been in a show choir with me for a year. We weren't close enough to hang out ever, but we did talk pretty often. She told me she was at UIUC and asked me if I joined a sorority at Florida Tech. I said, "Yes, Alpha Phi", and she replied, "GET OUT!" Turns out she is also an Alpha Phi at the Beta Alpha chapter. Crazy, huh? She wanted to exchange some stuff at some point so I think I'm going to dig up a Bid Day shirt and switch with her next time I'm in town. She also said that she thinks another girl who we played soccer with might have joined Alpha Phi at Northern Illinois. Small world, indeed. |
It's always so cool to meet Alpha Phis! I was shopping in San Jose (about 30 miles south of me) with a fellow alum and when I went to Express to pay my bill, I pulled out a few cards to find my Express card. I have my beautiful Alpha Phi Alumna card and the cashier saw it. She got really excited and said she was a Alpha Phi from the University of the Pacific (an hour and a half north of SF). It was great because of of my sisters at SFSU is a legacy and her older sister went to UOP. The cashier knew her too! I love seeing A Phi's everywhere! :D
