Thought

Just a reminder...you never know when it's someone's time to go, always tell someone how much you love them because you may never have time to do it again... I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment... my roommate's mom passed away this morning after years of battling with cancer. I also found out last night that one of my good friend's mom's has breast cancer.. So far she's had three surgeries and she has chemo five times a week... If you could squeak a little prayer in sometime for her, that'd be the best.. .Her name is Sharon. :(

I live by this...you have to tell people how much they mean to you. My mom battled and won breast cancer, but before she could get through it all, it spread to her liver and lungs. We were told to expect less than 2 years...and this was last August. She is getting ready to go through a bunch of tests this week to figure out if it has spread any more....there is nothing they can do from stopping the spread. Her body does not respond to chemo or to radiation. We are trying biological treatments right now, but we don't know if they are working. She is so sick and it's so hard to see her that way, but we spend as much time together as possible. It's not fair how hands get dealt sometimes, but we just have to keep our heads up. And it's hard when people say that they understand exactly how you feel, that their grandma had breast cancer or their aunt...well it's different when it's YOUR MOM! Please give your roommate all the support you can, although I dread it, I hope that I will have that support someday. My mom is my mom, she's a teacher, she's a best friend, she's a mentor, she's a coucil, and she's even my sister (DG wise)...it's so hard sometimes.

I know people mean well when they say they understand how you feel, but each person is different. I never say that horrid phrase because you never know what that person's relationship was like. It's better just to say something like "you're in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

It's just one of my pet peeves, I guess. :)

It is. My mom died very suddenly with absolutely no warning. It would have been nice to say goodbye.
