Jen,

I can see the headings on my computer...

Aries -

I can see the headings, but you need to change your terminology to be in line with the recent changes at the NPC level.

Rush is now Formal Recruitment
Parties are now Events
Rushees are now Potential Members
Rho Chi's are now Recruitment Counselors.

Your Panhellenic office should have received a mailing about these term changes last year.

The terminology has been changed many times...like when pledges became new members etc. Although people may want others to use formal terminoligy, the fact is people are still going to use the traditional way. It's not a big deal

It is a big deal if an affiliated College Panhellenic does not abide by the unanimous agreements, of which this terminology change is a part. In casual conversation, yes, the 'old' terms will reign, but on an official Panhellenic web site, the correct terms should be used. I know for a fact that the NPC checks websites - my Sorority Recruitment FAQ website was reviewed by an officer of the NPC and I was required to make changes to fall in line with their terminology, mission and unanimous agreements.

all this new terminology is just dandy but the thread was not posted in reference to that. If you want to give a list of what we all should be saying, post a new thread.

arierising,

If you view the website in both Netscape & Internet Explorer you'll see that not only the headings above the "location TBA" stuff are gone in Netscape, but also the entire section above Norna Jolly's name does not appear in Netscape. These problems are likely due to missing </table> tags in the HTML - when Netscape encounters a missing close table tag in the HTML the browser usually skips the entire table, on the other hand, Internet Explorer seems to be able to tell when a close table tag is missing & continues to interpret the HTML correctly, but not all the time depending on how the tables are setup.

I'll take a closer look at the HTML and will let you know what I find out.

Bad day, Manders?

Ariesrising asked us to look at her school's recruitment page. We did and saw that she isn't using the correct formal terminology. Some pointed it out so that she could make the corrections.

It's appreciated. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

ariesrising,

Yes, the problems displaying the webpage in Netscape are due to missing </table> tags. The table that includes the information above Norna Jolly's name does not include the close table tag </table>, this is what prevents that part of the webpage from being displayed in Netscape. Missing </table> tags are also the reason that the headers above the "location TBA" stuff does not appear in Netscape.

So, the problem you are having viewing the page has nothing to do with the web browser you are using. Whoever programmed your school's rush info webpage messed up a bit when coding in the tables to format the page. If you know who maintains that webpage, you might want to send them a quick email to let them know of the programming errors which cause the page to not display properly in Netscape, or just refer them to this discussion.

I hope this is helpful.
