I think Victoria Texas is about 2 or 3 hours (depending on how fast you drive ;) ) from College Station. Its a nice lil town and I think it's a pretty good location b/c it's within driving distance of lots of stuff.

Best of luck to both your sisters in Texas!

Victoria is ABOUT halfway between Houston and Corpus. Old town with lot of antique shops. Pretty nice place. My old DG roommate lives right outside (many tiny communities) and held a position as VP in one of the elementary schools.

Haven't been there for over 20 years, so I'm certain much has changed, but it had a real nice feel to it.

It takes me about 2 hours to get there on US 59 south, if you do 70 mph as soon as the speed limit gets there and start at the "big bend" by Westpark in Houston. I think it would take a bit longer starting from College Station.

I ALMOST WENT TO VICTORIA TODAY!!

My maternal grandfather's family is from Victoria and TONS of them live there, as well as my grandmother. I was going to go and visit my grandmother today, but because my uncle was coming to visit today, I wasn't able to. Speaking of, one of my sorority sisters is from Victoria, or as she calls it V-town. I love Victoria. JAM pretty much described it well. I love their downtown, it is very antique looking. Victoria is about an hour and a half away from Corpus and then about another 2 hours to Houston. I think it's about 2 - 2 1/2 hours from San Antonio as well, so it's location is perfect.

And btw, I'm from Corpus Christi, where your newly engaged sister is. Everybody knows everybody in Corpus (for the most part) so I may know who she is. :)
