Waiting for things!

Hey sisters! I hope you all had a happy holiday season! I'm curious about a couple things.

1) How long did it take your badge to arrive? I really want mine and nobody in my chapter can remember how long it took.

2) When does the winter Crescent come out? I want my member number so I can log in to the "My G-Phi-B" part of the website.

3) This is a long shot, but does anybody know anyone involved in the Milwaukee Alumnae Group? I will be transferring to Marquette next year and there's not a chapter there anymore, it closed a while ago.

In IIKE,
Kathleen

Ok, here are the answers that I know.

1) I thought it was 6-8 weeks, it should say on the form that had to be completed and turned in to IH. I'll check and see if I can find out for you (I may have a copy at home).

2) Sometime in January. I believe (but don't quote me) that it will go to your home address. Rebecca Beardslee at International can probably tell you more specifically. Someone at IH can probably also give you your member number (maybe Loraine Meech).

3) I have a list of all Alumnae Chapter Presidents at home and I'll find out the answer. I sat next to a delegate from one of the Wisconsin alumnae chapter (since it comes after Washington) but I forget which one she was from (very nice and funny woman though). I believe a former member of my alumnae chapter will be getting involved with that chapter at some time (her and her husband went overseas for a year).

If you have any more questions, feel free to email me at any time. I am pretty familiar with the alumnae department.

For your first question: I checked the Alumna Initiate order form and there's no time frame, so I'm not sure how long they will take. But I would think that the jeweler is doing a lot of them in the Fall.

As for the badge answer: every year when my chapter orders them, we have a delay. The badges won't be sent until each and every one ordered is paid for in full. So if you have one girl who's short on money, or can't be contacted, etc- then your chapter's order won't be processed or sent until the last of the payment is received. Not fair, I know. My pledge class happened to all pay at the same time (good job former Financial VP), and we didn't get our badges for a long time. We ordered them in November, didn't get them until May or June... a lot longer than expected. It may also depend on how many girls ordered your badges and how many other chapters are ordering around the same time your chapter is. My chapter tends to order later because we recruit later and we initiate later than most other chapters. Hopefully you'll get your badge soon!

Love in TTKE, Carol

I'm glad I could help.

About the badges, last fall (2001) our pledge class received their badges on Preference night of recruitment, they were so excited because it was their first chance to wear their badges.

My badge took just a little over 5 weeks to arrive after initiation. As for your member i.d, go to My G Phi B on the International website. From there, you will be given instructions on how to log on without your member number. They'll ask for your name, chapter, initiation year, etc. After verification, you'll be given a number and then you can select a password. Hope that helps!

Andrea, that part isn't even working! :( It says it can't find me, so I filled out the form for having trouble, but I haven't heard anything back. I have to call IHQ about a couple other things, so I will just ask about that as well.

It often takes a bit to get a response about a website problem. The good news is that they are currently redesigning our site (YEAH) so that should help. Since you're pretty new, the online database probably doesn't have you in it yet which is why you get that message. At one time I was told all updates are made quarterly.

Kathleen-

My Crescent magazine came this week. Did you get yours? I hope you have your member i.d. now.

Andrea,

I didn't get it, but it may have been sent to me at our chapter house. If I don't have it by next week I will call, and still no member ID, or response from the Account Request email. :(

The worst part is, Legacy (our jeweler) seems to be slow with everything - my boyfriend ordered the vintage lavalier for me for Christmas sometime in December - they just told him that it *hopefully* will ship the 26th of this month. UGH!

IIKE,
Kathleen

Just two FYI's:

1) My Crescent is always slow getting to me (I got it in yesterday's mail). I'm usually the last to get it. Members of my chapter used to contact me saying "did you see our picture?" and I would get the magazine a week later.

2) I ordered a pendant for my badge on Jan 3rd and they automatically said 6-8 weeks for delivery. So if he ordered it in Dec, Jan 26th seems about right.

Just my humble opinion but....

...we should change jewelers if they are going to consistently take so freakin' long to get things to customers -- there really is no excuse for deliveries to take as long as everyone is describing...

Speaking of waiting for things, I know our website is being
re-designed and personally I can't WAIT -- I really loathe our site -- it is probably the worst of all 26 NPC sorority websites and I have checked them ALL out pretty thoroughly (it's a weird hobby of mine) -- I wanted to be on whatever committee or task force was looking at the site and even told several people of my desires -- even offered to help re-do one section -- but no one seemed to want my help...grump grump grump....hopefully our new website will be on a par with the other NPC sorority sites....
