The Basic symbols of all GLO's
 

Hey, I was looking for a website about the "basic facts" about all GLO's. And I couldnt find one. So I thought we could start a thread on it, and just say our colors, common nicknames and mascot(s), jewels, and anything else you want to say, just for fun. I'll start!

Alpha Omicron Pi

Nickname: AOPi (AOII)

Colors: Cardinal Red (and although not official colors, we use a lot of black and white)

Mascot: We don't officially have one, but the Panda bear is the "mascot" of choice.

Symbol: The deep red Jacqueminot Rose!!!

Jewel: The Ruby (pearls and diamonds are also widely used but unofficial)

Kappa Delta

Nickname: KD

Colors: originally olive green and pearl white, but emerald green and bright white are used more commonly now.

Mascot: teddy bear, katydid (some chapters have their own additional mascots, like frogs and ladybugs)

Symbol: nautilus shell, dagger

Flower: white rose

Jewel: pearl, diamond, and emerald

Actually Alpha Omicron Pi was founded at Barnard College, though Barnard is a part of Columbia (and our founders' college degrees are from Columbia). The only national philanthropy is the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization. The AOII Foundation administers the grants and scholarships. . . .among other things

You mean, we have to wait about 2 1/2 more millenia for Theta Phi Alpha to be founded? ;)

Sigma Nu
 

Nickname: Snu, snakes, Sig Nu

Colors: Black & Gold

Mascot: Snake

Flower: The White Rose

Founded: January 1st, 1869 at the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia.

Phi Mu announced its founding March 4, and so celebrates that as Founder's Day.

Phi Mu no longer holds the Enchantress Carnation as its official flower; the flower is basically extinct, and was becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. Now we just use rose-colored carnations.

FOUNDED AT: University of Michigan at Anne Arbor, College of Music
FOUNDING DATE: 12 June, 1903
COLORS: Crimson and White
FLOWER: Red rose and white rose
SYMBOL: Red rose, pipes of pan
PHILANTHROPY: SAI Philanthropies, Inc--several different philanthropies, including the Composer's Bureau, Seed Money Grants, Impact Project Grants, Pan's Cottage, Music Therapy, Audio/Visual Project, Inter-American Music Awards, People-to-People Project, SAI Strings and Services for the Visually/Hearing Impaired.
MASCOT: None advised

I assume you mean AEPhi (Alpha Epsilon Phi), because AEPi is a male fraternity.

Well actually we have The Make-A-Wish Foundation as our national philanthropy,but we do still have our local philanthropies that we work hands on with as well...and everyone thing else you mentioned is right on.:D
