Lavaliers
Hey ladies,
Does anyone know if we have any rules about our lavaliers? I'm getting ready to go abroad for a couple of months to Rome, and my young man and I were discussing a few things the other night. We're serious, but not serious enough for a diamond, and he's only in the beginning stages of pledging Sinfonia. I want to give him a lavalier, as I know it means a lot in other GLOs to whom I've been exposed. So do we have any rules/traditions? I think this is a lovely, old-fashioned sort of thing, and very classy. Let me know, please? Love and roses, Emma |
Hey sis,
I've never heard of a girl giving a guy a lavelier; only the other way around. Don't see why it couldn't be done, but I recommend e-mailing nationals to see what they think about it. :) Good luck! Keep us posted! :) |
I have always heard that girls, from any GLO, can not lavalier or pin any of their significant others. I do not know if this has changed though.

Lavaliering is generally done by the guy, to the girl. Since it's a feminine piece of jewelry, I can't see a guy wearing it. Nationals doesn't have a policy on this (the closest thing is our policy on no sweethearts). You could still e-mail them and see what they have to say on the matter, though.

Do you mean for him to wear our letters or you to wear his? From my understanding it is a huge deal - and sometimes frowned on if you swtich letters-something about not earning the right to wear it or something. But some fraternities to still drop girls- give them the fraternities letters to wear. But if you mean for him to buy you your letters and you him I don't think thats a big deal. Oh I was the sweetheart to a Phi Mu Alpha chapter and they said there was a policy were I could not wear their letters. Hope this helps:)
