Stupid Questions!
Every now and again, I see posts that XYZ is the largest/second-largest/third largest sorority, and I'd just love to know where this information is available. Does anyone have any idea? It's not listed at the NPC site.
Also, when others talk about "the uber-Christian sorority" or the "ultra-Christian sorority". does anyone else know who they mean? I can't help but think that they may mean ADPi, and while that wouldn't upset me, I'd like to know. Thanks! honeychile |
I think that the identity of the "uber-Christian sorority" (I just wanted to write that :D) varies from campus to campus. I know one of the posters on here said there is a sorority at her school like that and it's not because that is their "national" character, it just happens to be that chapter. I know we (ASA) have or had a couple chapters like that as well.

Most NPC orgs list the number of chapters on their website. Some just list them all and make you count them. Generally, when people say "largest" they mean "greatest number of currently active chapters." Of course, all the NPHC sororities are larger than all the NPC ones, in terms of number of chapters although not by numbers of initiates.
Ariesrising has a list at http://www.geocities.com/ariesrising...k/numbers.html . It's not "official" but she does puts in a lot of effort, so I'd bet her numbers are fairly accurate (give or take the constant fluctuation of number of chapters for any GLO). Chi O is the biggest both by chapters and initiates, and Theta Phi Alpha is the smallest. |
