Collegians writing references?

I mentioned this in another thread...and maybe it's been mentioned before. Anyway, I'm curious, so I thought I'd start a new thread..

Kappa Delta allows collegians from other chapters to write recs on girls going through rush at another school.

Do other sororities allow this as well?

(P.S. this thread can be continued on the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NPC-unofficial/ group, if you feel the discussion should not be "public".. )

I'm pretty sure Thetas can, too.

I don't know. We always give legacies preference. However, I know that I've heard of something called 'high voice'. If someone knows you and knows that you'll be good for chapter, they will put in a high voice for you. However, I thought only alum could write references.

A Phi allows alums to write letters (we even have a form for it). I don't think current collegians can write them, though.

Pi Phi's ref form specifically says "For alumni members". I think it would be nice if collegians were allowed to write refs, however.

Collegiate Kappas are encouraged to write letters of recommendation for women who will be going through recruitment at another school.

Collegiate Dee Gee's are allowed to write recs for PNM's. On the form, there are several boxes to choose from, one even includes that you do not personally know the PNM, but that you obtained the info elsewhere (school transcripts, etc).

Any initiated member of Alpha Phi can write a letter of recommendation.

Yes, a ZTA collegiate can write a rec as long as an alumna signs it. The alumna doesn't necessarily have to know the PNM though. A friend of mine went through rush at UF and I had our advisor sign it. As long as the alumna knows the sister and trusts her opinion, they will sign the rec.
