Let's solve a problem we ALL face! Finish this statement: We should_____________to/with people that sell crack and other addictive drugs.

Does this include Alcohol?

Selling drugs is wrong. That being said as long as there is a demand someone is going to supply that demand. Instead of going after the drug dealer we need to prevent people from starting. Punish first time user take the glory of using drugs, and then after the glory is gone help rehabilitate the addicts. If you have no demand for drugs, then you don't have a drug dealer.

some of these people we may want to condemn are cousins...past friends...uncles and aunts...

Still; what should we do with them? To do nothing is like selling out the rest of our family, clan, and all of our people.

I apologize for placing my response like that bruh.

What do you think about an amnesty program; where the law would forgive all dealers if they promised to stop immediately, and allow the government to monitor their actions for a period of time(i.e. 1year). There would have to be some form of a probation period.

...incarcerate them and as part of their community service, make them work either with the rehabilitation of addicts, help families that have been torn apart by drug addiction/alcholism, or care (under close supervision)for crack/drug addicted babies for a large portion of their day so that they experience first hand the result of their actions.

I'm in favor of rehabilitation if at all possible...skills, college...the whole 7.

Some suggest that black folks may need psychological counseling...as the black community as a whole doesn't really take that seriously...

but they do need to be set a part from society...locking them up without building them up will never suffice in a so called "civilized" society.

It's important that we impress upon them some key ideals as they are "locked up"...many of these people just have bills to pay like the rest of capitalist america.

They just go about it the wrong way...isn't there someway to tap into this misguided marketing, trading, and selling services...It's quite possible that Black America's next generation of real Millionaires are behind bars because of environment, options, and misguided intentions...

I don't know, just some thoughts (my caveat)!

Peace and Blessings,

You can lock up every drug dealer there is and anyone ever thinking of becoming a drug dealer, and the problem of drugs in the nation will still be there. Why because people want it. I agree with the person who said the next generation of black millionaires is in jail. Drugs is a business and its all supply and demand. Like I said earlier if you had every drug dealer there was now get a heart and stop selling someone else would replace him because the demand for drugs would still be there. Think about it.

I agree with you. What do you think about an amnesty program? Do you think it would work?

7BA94 08-03-2000 07:12 PM

I think an amnesty program would work if it involved education and job opportunity and not menial jobs. The jobs would have to challenge the people mental and reward that challenge monetarily. The people running the amnest would have to understand that they were dealing with criminals yes but criminals who were business men so treat them like responsible citzens and more than likely they would act like responsible citzens. Then you still have to find some way to curb America's insatiable demand for drugs.

To fill in the blank with your statement...We should look at the drug problem on a national level. We need to look at who the real drug dealers are. Who are they? They are the overseers, the gov., the pres., ect. They are the root of the problem.

That's the truth the govt. doesn't want the public to deal with.

I hope one day soon you are appointed to the Supreme Court. That would be a wise and effective punishement.
