Gay Brothers?
When I was a pledge I was asked, "What is the 13 word of the creed" and I we respond "Brotherhood". That one word that units us all as Sigma Pi's, but recently I have not felt that in my house as much as I used to. I just recently came out of the closet to my house, and for the most part it was no big deal. So I thought. I'm not saying all the guys in the house started to talk trash, but enough so it would get back to me what people are saying. The part that hust the most was the fact that the other brother that heard the trash talk said nothing to stop it. I know I'm not the only Sigma Pi in history to be gay, and thats a fact that I know. I'm just saying we should practice what we preach, we hold the word "Brotherhood" so highly we cant choose when to used it and when not to. I take the word "Brotherhood" very seriously, and I think we all should.

Chris-
It is too bad some in your chapter have chosen to react the way they did. I know for a fact, as I’m sure many others out there do, that you are by no means the only gay brother we have. What makes you different form the rest is that you have the courage to stand up and admit it while the rest of us are all sneaking around like school children. I applaud you Chris, and I'm sure that all of the other men who are truly worthy of being your brother would join me in congratulating you on the tremendous step you have taken. As for those who would seek to chastise you for the decision you made to come out, I would ask them to open their pledge manuals to the first page and kindly take notice of the 13th word of the creed they have promised to live by. Any man not willing to do that should be ashamed of himself and you should feel no further obligation to him as your brother. |
