chapter founders

AlphaGam1019 started a thread inquiring about the number of founders each sorority/fraternity had. My question is, how many founders did your chapter have or start out with? The SAE's at UT-Dallas was founded by 13 guys.

30 of us... I'm #5 of that group:cool:

The Eta Eta chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma had 120 charter members. I'm one of them :D

Optimist Prime 12-11-2002 08:42 PM

I think we have 35 or 36 on the charter. I know that 36 of us were initated at the same time. I am Iota Zeta 32.

Delta Epsilon had 12 founders. One of them is the current chapter advisor. Last year at our 20th 9 of them made it out...that was pretty cool.

Gamma Omicron of ASA had 27 awesome, beautiful, kick-butt charter members. :D :D

Um, back in 1946, we probably had around 40-50 members (that's a guess, don't know the exact number). That was the year HSU decided to go National with it's groups. I do know from looking at past yearbooks, about half of our chapter was made up of members from the Philomethian Society, and half from the Adelphian Society, which I thought was kind of interesting. Seems like if the campus wanted to go National, the groups would have stuck together. But maybe they just dissolved the groups and let people pick where they wanted to go.

I belive Zeta Nu chapter had 25 founders back in 1959.

OUlioness01 12-11-2002 11:45 PM

i think the Delta Delta chapter began with a local that had somewhere between 16 and 26 members when Phi Mu colonized in 1926.

While I am bragging, it is a fact.

I wa the Founder of the Local.

I designed all of the things that make up a Fraternity, Badge, Pledge pin, flag, Coat of Arms!

I got guys that were kicked out of Fraternityys, and guys who wanted to do and start something new that they wanted to try.

But, while I did all of this, it took everyone of the guys that I talked into joining to make it to this day! Well I guess I should say that all of the young men who have made it to this day, 33 years and 600 + members since then!

This is what Greek Life is all about!

Am I proud of being The Founder, you damn betcha I am!

To colonize Tau Omega chapter had 15 guys, we had between 50 and 60 chartering members, that was in 2000 so lots of them are still active.

AlphaSigLana 12-12-2002 01:19 AM

i have no idea!

astroAPhi 12-12-2002 01:59 AM

The Theta Zeta chapter of Alpha Phi needed to be at or around quota to get their charter, so there was approximately 40 women. The chapter was installed in 1990.

Our chapter advisor is one of those founding women. :)
