Holidays
What does your chapter do for the holiday? Do you do any Christamas themed charity work?
|
Something we did during the Christmas season back in the 80's was all the guys in the chapter decorated an athletic sock with their name, scroll, letters and whatever decoration. (Usually just done with a magic marker or whatever.)
Then we hung them from the fireplace mantel and on the banister in the house. It was quite a site with 50+ socks everywhere. Then we would have a Christmas party with our little sisters, The Daughters of Diana. There we'd exchange gifts with your TKE Family. (Pledge pop, Pledge son and your little sis.) We usually included some kindergarten kids for the first hour or so and made it a PR event then had the party and gift exchange with our TKE Family. Now I think its a big deal for some campus greeks to do lots of lights on their houses. Columns and all the traditional "Greek Look" houses really look great with lots of lights. |
I though the were called the order of Diana back then?
|
Not at our Chapter. We called them "D of D" for short."Not sure why, but you know how things go in TKE. Some chapters refer to other TKE members as "Brother Smith" instead of "Frater Smith." I'm not a big fan of the use of "Brother" in place of "Frater."

we usher for the christmas candle light service.

last sunday we did some volunteer work where we wrapped already decorated artificial Christmas trees that were sold and the money went to Children's Hospital. I guess the organization, The Festival of Trees donated quite a bit of money from this. They were so appreciative of our help, in fact one of the guys working there is a Teke alum from nearby Delta Pi chapter--Eastern Michigan Univ and was so happy to see us there, he even brought over his wife to introduce us to her! He told her that we were from his fraternity, it was great.
