Pete Rose not banned?
I was reading on espn.com that there is a possiblity Pete could get freed from his life time ban if he admits to betting on baseball.
Do you think his ban will get lifted? Do you think it deserves to be lifted? I think as long as he didn't bet on his own team or the team he was playing that day, where was the harm? |
I think that Rose needs to be reinstated.
Although he's never come out and denied betting on his own team, i think as long as it can be proven that he wasn't throwing games he deserves to be back into baseball. With some of the things that major athletes are accused of nowadays(re: Ray Lewis) and still get to continue their careers, i think that Pete deserves to be back in baseball. Kitso KS 361 |
I think that he should be reinstated, and at least be let into the hall offame....but then that view is pretty common in my hometown.

It's been said for a while, since about the time of the suspension, that if Rose admitted guilt he would be reinstated. He belongs in the Hall of Fame, but I think there's no shot of him admitting guilt. He's gone this long without doing it, I don't think he ever will.

I think he needs to be reinstated also, c'mon, he was on the Reds, he deserves it, heh :)

You do the crime, you do the time.
He should not have the ban lifted just to make sure his and others feelings are not hurt. He needs to either be proven innocent or have the sanction lifted by doing what he was asked to do in the first place and fess up. I'm sure the ban wouldn't be in place unless there was a good reason to do so. |
This brings up another question: If Rose is reinstated, shouldn't Shoeless Joe Jackson be as well?
For those who don't know, here's a quick recap. Jackson was a member of the 1919 Chicago White Sox, who were heavily favored in the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds took the series, and it was found later that several of the White Sox had worked with bookies to "throw" the series, getting payoffs in return. Jackson, who hit over .400 in the series and did not make an error, knew of the deal but did not profit from it. However, he was banned from baseball just as the rest of the players were. The scandal is called the "Black Sox" scandal. Now, Jackson is in the top ten in batting average all time, an excellent fielder, and was one of the best players of the era - a sure-fire Hall of Famer if eligible. The question is: should he be? If Rose is re-instated, should Jackson? Collin |
yes! i believe shoeless joe should be....and while we're talking about people who should be reinstated, pardoned for mistakes etc. i think the guy who set John Wilkes Boothe's borken limb should be pardoned too (i forgive things easily if they don't directly affect me)

Rose not being admitted into the hall of fame brings up legitamacy issues with me. Ozzie smith, first ballot? Darryl Kile, bypass the 5 year rule? There hasn't been any proof against Rose, just allegations.
