2 BGLO questions for anyone

What is Boule....

And why do Kappa Alpha Psi members sometimes call themselves "Nupes"?

If these are things I'm not supposed to know, don't be shy about saying so!

gloriajean 06-12-2000 05:12 PM

And what is "line"? Does that mean "pledge class"?

(33Girl: I think "Boule" is like a convention)

Naw, you are not suppose to know.

Well, I can tell you what Boule is, that's not a 'secret'. Boule is the sorority's national convention. It is generally held every 2 years.

Regarding NUPES, the letters Phi Nu Pi do appear on their badges so I can only guess that NUPE is some derivative of that. The exact definition is a secret so non-members will never know.

The Kappa bruh just said it was not the type of info that needs to be given out, why can't people leave it as that? He's a member don't disrespect him and try to give out info that you are not privy to in the first place. Not trying to jump on you, but dang. Some people will lose out if you become greek because you will have nothing to look forward too.

Just to add, Delta Sigma Theta is the only NPHC Sorority that does not call the Convention a Boule. We just call it a National Convention.

Thanks for the info everyone!!

Margie did not disrespect him. People can speculate all they want but if they are not members then they will never know the true meaning. Anyone can see Phi Nu Pi on Kappa's badge and on their crest and put 2 and 2 together. She was just stating the obvious. Is this accurate? Maybe, maybe not but as she said, it is an assumption and only a Kappa knows what it means. This is similar to AKAs knowing the significance of the ivy, Kappa Deltas about the dagger, Alpha Sigma Alpha about the phoenix or Zeta Tau Alpha about the crown. All of these are outward symbols of membership that anyone can see but only initiated members know the true and deeper meanings.

A "line" is the pledgees or initiates of that semester. They are often referred to by year (spring 99,the fall line of 98). The number "on line" refers to the number accepted for membership that semester.

What Serenity said.
Furthermore, you can't spell either! It's "uncontrollable" with 2 L's. DUH!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif

Damn, ya'll for trippin' -- thanks, but a NUPE told me that -- it's just a joke. I am not bashing the frat (don't really see how that's a bash anyway . . .) It's a common slang term I've heard from a lot of people who are aware of the greek life. Damn, my best friend in the whole world (she is my family) is a damn shilloutte -- and if she can call her husband that then I am sure it's not bashing. Of course it's not the official meaning -- common sense. And sorry, daisy, for the GOD FORBID --the TYPO in my last post.

Answer: My sincerest apologies. I guess I just didn't get the "joke". Personally, I thinK it is in poor taste. But as they say, "to each his own". http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

A lot of people say that the word nupe refers to "Nasty Uncontrolable P@$$% Eater" -- I am sure that's just the slang definition. But, hey, that's what they pride themselves on.

Serenity 06-18-2000 12:42 AM

HELLO!?! Was that REALLY necessary?! Obviously it doesn't mean that. Use some common sense. If you want to bash the organization, be upfront enough to just do it. Don't hide behind "what other people say". Oh and GROW UP!
