Pillow Shams or the Difference Between Man and Women

WTF??? I came back from an evening out with the girls pretty late and when I got to my bedroom I found my husband sleeping on the pillows with shams! I've told him a million times that the pillows with shams are decorative only and the sleeping pillows are in my closet. He says that all pillows are fair game if they're on the bed. Aaaagh! I'm sorry for this odd vent, but the pillow shams were expensive and now they're all wrinkled and mussed up.

Thank you for listening :)

Reading this post gave me flashbacks to being a kid and having my mom yell at me for the same thing. ;)

All pillows are fair game!!!!! Isn't a pillow sham basically a pillow case?

Also, men will sleep on pillows without pillow cases if you let us . . . whats the big deal?

Plus we will open a new roll of toilet paper and not put it on the roller . . . which should be just fine shouldn't it? Whats the big deal?

Oh and if we have to remember to lower the toilet seat . . . well wouldn't it be just as easy for the woman to remember to raise the toilet seat?

Can we say double standard.

How 'bout if everybody puts down both the toilet seat and the lid when he/she is through? That way we'll all have to do some lifting and nobody'll have to stare at the inside of a toilet while brushing his/her teeth.

I'm sorry, but I tend to agree with the guys. If it's pillow-like, and on the bed, it's fair game to me!

Finally, a girl with common sense! ;)

OK, I admit it...I sleep on the shams sometimes. Ohhhh, the shame! :o But really, in the grand scheme of things, what does it matter? In my case, no one ever sees my room except for my family and occasionally my friends, so I only really keep the shams nice and neat if guests are coming over and they're going to sleep in my room. Besides, the pillows with the shams on them are the fluffiest ones, and I like them better.

Now KillarneyRose, I know that one of these days I will be in your position and I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune. ;)

Yep, yep...someday, Dana, you'll have spent many hours and many, many dollars looking for the perfect duvet cover, perfect complementary sheets and perfect pillow shams (no James, they're not the same as pillow cases! They're....rufflier if that's a word) and you're gonna come home and Mr. AchtungBaby is going to be sprawled out on the bed wrinkling and smooshing those shams and you're gonna shake your head and say, "Yes, my older, wiser sister, KillarneyRose was absolutely right." Then you're gonna kick his a$$ off the bed just like I did! :p :D :)

LOL @ KillarneyRose

I know Mr. aephi alum better than to ever try to put pillows with shams on our bed. MEN... can't live with 'em... pass the beer nuts :D

Oy, I think I'd smack myself if I ever spent that much time looking for the perfect whatever for my room. The way I see it, is it's my room. I will keep it the way I like it, and I don't see the point in having stuff just for show when it could be put to use. My shams are especially useful when I'm sick and I need extra pillows to prop myself up so I can breathe better. (this of course is coming from a girl with an "Enter at your own risk" sign on her door).

On second thought, I did spend a long time looking for my perfect stereo (which you can hear across the street). I guess I feel about electronics as you do beddings?

KillarneyRose 12-07-2002 07:13 PM

Crystalline, I guess it is kind of the same thing :)

Not just bedding, really, it's the whole house. I actually paid money to someone to come in and organize my bedroom closet

I think actually, that I may be a Martha Stewart wannabe but am just not ready to admit it to myself (well, not the insider trading Martha. Just the home guru Martha) :D

*jaw hits the floor* An organized bedroom closet? Now that is something I will never acheive, unless I take everything out of my closet and put it somewhere else. I admire those who can stand to be so neat. I haven't the patience for the maintenance.

Brilliant!! I believe that unless the toilet is being used, the LID should be down. That way, when you flush, what's in there stays in there. Plus, I don't want my cats playing in the toilet. Gross.

I don't care about pillow shams either. I just use regular pillow cases on all the pillows, and wash them all with the sheets. I cared about matching stuff for a few minutes, but now I don't care. I think a bed is more comfy if everything doesn't match, and everything in my bed gets cat fur all over -- they especially like sleeping on the pillows, by my head, and they would never stay off pillow shams. ;)
