who protects small businesses?
 

so because of the corporate scandals this year, I've learned a little bit about politics and lobbying and how big businesses get to bend the ear of politicians.

but what about the little businesses? if they can't afford a lobbyist or they can't make huge payments to campaigns, how do they know people are going to watch out for them when making laws?

Is this something the US Chamber of Commerce covers? Who do they represent?

There are various lobbying groups that represent the interests of various small businesses. They pay their dues to trade associations, professional organizations, etc.. They don't directly represent the interests of individuals but more the group will.. Sort of like the AARP represents older folks.

hmm... that's interesting.

now, is the US Chamber of Commerce considered a trade association or is it something different? I've seen their representatives quoted in news stores and stuff but it's never really explained what they do?
