Dec 1 is too early to play Christmas music

I enjoy Christmas. But what I do not like is hearing Christmas music so early in the season. There are radio station that are playing Christmas music now. But what I really hate is when I hear songs that were not originally Christmas songs turn into Christmas song. That's just plain wrong.

Its officially the season! Give an example of what you mean..songs that were not meant for christmas but is now..?

I always thought anytime before Thanksgiving was too early. I think the Christmas shopping season started moving up from the day after Thanksgiving in the mid-90s, so the time frame for playing Christmas music had to move up, too.

What is truly irksome is seeing Christmas decorations on November 1st. We just finished Halloween...can we wait for Thanksgiving? It shows how materialistic such a beautiful holiday has become.

Strive, please elaborate on the songs not intended for Christmas being made into Christmas songs. I just don't get it either.

Dec 1 was the first Sunday of Advent

The Song Knocking Boots became Knocking Boots on Christmas. This song was popular in the 1980s or early 1990s

If I hear more "not meant for Christmas" songs, I will post them.

Shoot, I believe that as soon as they light the Rich's Great Tree in Atlanta (Thanksgiving night) that the Christmas season officially begins. :)

The song is kind of old. I hope they don't play it at all this year.

I've never heard of it either.

Once you hear Silent Night by the Temptations, you know the Christmas season is here.

Nope, I've never heard it either, and I pray that my ears will never be assaulted that way.

It's officially Christmas when I hear Donnie Hathaway croon "This Christmas" and James Brown telling "Santa Claus, Go Straight to the Ghetto". Just soulful holiday cheer for all. Maybe my fellow Southerners can identify with hearing Quad City DJs sing the rap version of "12 Days of Christmas". Sorry, got excited......
