Movie: We Were Soldiers
Did anyone see it?
What did you think? |
I haven't seen it, but one of my best guy friends loves it
|
I really enjoyed it. Thought it was a really good movie.

As a former soldier I feel the movie is pretty kick ass.....
On a serious note, We Were Soldiers and Band of Brothers are probably the best two programs out there that represent the bond between soldiers (just too bad that there American :) ). I recomend that everyone should rent this movie. PS. Christopher Klein is a Lambda Chi |
Over rated. Oz got the shitty part. He shoulda been a hero. Instead he dies, WTF?
P.S. I hate movies that try to make people cry every 12 seconds. Bye! |
I rented this and sat down to watch with my daughter (who had already seen it). I can see why many would recommend it because it is intense and have no doubt, action packed. I can't give it a thumbs up. I just couldn't finish it because it was so graphic. All I could think about was how terrified those young boys must have been and how horrid war is. As a comparison, I was moved by Saving Private Ryan. This had me so upset I wanted to vomit-literally. It was TOO real for me.:(

Saving Private Ryan!
Best war movie ever. I almost cried when my man died :( ...well, I won't hide it. I did!! |
Everyone realizes that it WAs a true story right?
I read the book and the movie was about the first half of the book. What the movie didn't show was when we got our asses handed to us on the March home. The movie ends with the soldiers being airlifted out. What it doesn't show was that the rest of the regiment walked home and while they were strung out on the March the Vietnamese counter attacked and just really wreacked havoc on our forces. I'll try to dig up the statistics but we lost an awful high percentage of men as our troops were over run on the way home. If you read the second half of the book, well justamom talks about terror, but the terror of the boys on the march home must have been incredible because they were cut off, over run, bereft of most fire support, seperated from the Company Captain's, and had one really long night to face. I saw this movie in the movie theater back when they were showing it. I think this movie was incredibly awesome, but I do have to agree with some of the others who said it was a teensy bit too graphic.

I am all about wrapping myself in the flag lol. But hell that is a pretty bold and indefensible statement.
It might be safer to say that the United states Military has the best logistical support base of any military force in history. Quote:

I hope my comment didn't imply I was unaware this was a true story. I know that. It's like a situation I experienced when I was little. I had a horse that I loved. When we read "The Little Red Pony" in English, I got physically ill and passed out. I tend to empathize with animals and people. When I saw this video, it was like seeing my son and his friends in those uniforms and being so frightened. Nothing could save them. I had to turn it off.

Think about that when you support Bush's War policies lol.
War isn't always as clean cut as the Gulf War was. Quote:

Sorry, I get riled up when people tote the accepted media view of the American army. I served in the Canadian and have trained with the 10th Mountain and Rangers; mostly as OpFor because we were considered innovative and adaptable. Further I have served alongside the soldiers of more than a dozen countries, and while some were superior to others I don't feel confident in saying any which of them could be called the "best ever". |
I read a biography on George S Patton. He was talking to a French General during WWI and the general said something like: You can tell how good the infantry is by how much artillery it needs . . . american infantry needs a lot of artillery.
