National fees $$

How much are your national initiation fees, yearly dues, insurance, ect?

hendrixski 11-30-2002 06:20 PM

Fortunately my houses dues are pretty small. Only about $700...
(Housing is a seperate cost) Of that I think well over $200 goes to insurance... the cost goes up every year, it's rediculous.
Initiation fees are around 125 I think, it's been a while ya know

It varies greatly from chapter to chapter, and fraternity to fraternity.

I know there are a some houses where you don't pay dues at all while living there. Instead you sign up to pay a certain percentage of your salary as an alumni.

Is that $700 for the year? Is that in house? I pay $350 a semester. I'm not sure what percentage of that goes to nationals.

Our dues varies based on how long you've been there, at least at my chapter. This semester was $350. They will probably go up, since we need more money for housing.

Yes. sorry.

I guess it's not the lowest out there, but towards the bottom end of the spectrum here at RIT.

I'm not sure why it matters?

I remember a few months back Hoosier asked the same question. He was given hell about it. Why so different now?

33girl 11-30-2002 09:21 PM

I think because hoosier posted in one of the fraternities' forums their dues and then said "is it really worth it?" skip isn't being a big jerk about it.

Pledge Fee (National, one time): $45

Initiation Fee (National, one time) $150

Townee Fee (Monthly, includes social, insurance, etc.): $50

Resident Fee (living in the house, monthly): $300

Skip, I'll tell you that we're all fairly close.. Probably all within $20-40 dollars of eachother. So close that I would advise you do not shop on price (if that is why you're asking).

I wholeheartedly agree!!! However, it is nice to anticipate the costs before you join. The best resource for this would be the sorority/fraternity that you're interested in. Each campus and organization is different and therefore the finances vary.

Mational Fees

DU Fees consist of a pledge fee, $60.00, an initiation fee,$200 yearly dues and insurance, don't know the exact amount for dues and insurance.
Back in 1984 when I pledged pledge fee was $40.00 and initiation fee was $150.00

National fees

For Alpha Phi Omega, the National Service Fraternity, these are our fees currently (may change after our National Convention in a few weeks).

Pledge fees- $10 (paid only once)

Induction fees- $25 (paid only once)

Annual Active Membership dues- $15 (paid once per year for each active member of the chapter, advisors do not pay)

Honorary Membership fee- $5 (paid by chapter if they want to give someone honorary membership)

Each chapter determines its own dues. The chapter I'm with charges pledges a total of $40, which covers the above pledge & induction fees, plus their $4 Service pin (membership pin). Actives pay the same amount each semester (fall & spring), which means dues are $80 per year.

Hope this helps
