Embarassing or funny rush stories
Hey yall, it's getting a little quiet in the Chi O forum so I thought I would ask a question to liven it up a bit.
Do you have any embarassing or funny rush stories? Either when you were rushing or from the other side? Hope y'all have a great thanksgiving! |
One thing that stands out in my mind is my Senior year during the Sharing the Sisterhood Ceremony, a rushee was putting her carnation in the wishing well (which had a top) and she hit her head as she bent over. It was embarassing for us cuz we hoped she didn't feel embarassed and then use that to make her decision. Luckily she pledged anyways :)
Another embarassing moment was my Sophomore year. It was my first year on the "other side" and we were doing the whole (old) Chi Omega Classic night with skit. I HATED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! It was just sorta old-fashioned and the songs and skits were ultra cheesy (but then again when aren't Rush skits cheesy). Anyways, I just remember doing our song and dance to "Rush Around The Clock Tonight" and looking at some of the faces of the Rushees and wondering if they thought we were freaks LOL! Luckily we still took quota +2! |
ehhh, kind of embarassing but i felt really bad for the PNM. Just this past rush I was getting over being sick. I had just returned from neutrality so I was really into doing the cheers and chants while all the girls were waiting outside the doors. After all the screaming for 10 minutes when it came time to talk to girls they couldn't hear a word I said. I kept turning red in the face cause it hurt so bad to talk....I had to leave and get water so I felt really bad when I just kind of up and left:eek:

I've told this story in the rush forum -
The year I was Rush chair we had this girl come through who we dubbed "Mint Girl". During 2nd round we had these bowls of those brightly colored, chocolatey mints all over the house. They were a big hit and girls were eating a lot of them. Well, I was at the door at the end of a party saying goodbye and making sure no one accidentally left with anything - and the Rho Chis were there checking as well. Well, this girl comes to the door with a handful of the mints. I apologize and tell her she can't leave with them. She looks at me funny, then pulls them to her chest. so I reiterate that I need to take them and she starts to walk out the door, so I had to step outside and literally block her from leave and AGAIN tell her she had to give them to me. She looked at them, looked at me, and shoved the whole HUGE handful into her mouth and walked out! She actually ended up at our Pref b/c she was a really great girl. But she was referred to as "Mint Girl" the rest of the time. She pledged a different house though. |
OMG Kathy that's hilarious! Seriously I woulda busted up laughing!

It was pretty funny. At our Pref for each girl attending we had a big sugar cookie (sort of yellow) with their name written on it in red icing. When it came to her, someone said "Can we put 'Mint Girl'?!" :D
