National Web Pages
Because my work involves me visiting college campuses, I've lately found myself doing research to find out what schools have various chapters. And I've found that some GLO's main web pages do not even list their chapters (this is fairly rare) while many that do provide bogus contact information. I know that it is tough to keep up with all of the chapters, and that many don't report, but wouldn't it make sense to create permanent e-mail boxes for each chapter that the president or communications veep gets forwarded to them each year? How do you handle reporting changes in office to your centralized organization?

We have a whole host of paperwork that we have to fill out and send each year (and some stuff each semester). The contact info that HQ has for us is mostly correct although we are college students and nothing in our lives is very stable.

Probably because the minute an address is posted on a site like that it is trolled and used for spam.

There's a ton of ways to spam guard - like posting the word "At" instead of @. I'm just saying someone out there has got to have come up with a better way of updating than relying on undergrads to fill out a ton of paperwork. Don't the people who travel for the various GLOs have to know some contact info? I'm not saying everyone should post it - just that if you're going to post the information, wouldn't you want it to be correct?

Kappa Delta recently set up an email system for each chapter, so there is a permanent address that won't change with each new president. It makes it very easy to find the email address you need, since they're based on the chapter name (e.g. betapsi@kappadelta.org). Now if only they'd update it to include AAs as well! Wishful thinking, I know.

that sounds like a great idea. I wonder though (since I have no clue about these things) if that required a significant $$$ investment? |
Steve,
Specific addresses and other contact info are posted in a password protected area of our national web page. We have links to chapters with their own web pages, and if we were legitametly contacted about something, we might divulge a minimal amount of information. As for the Kappa Delta email addresses, I think that's an awesome idea! What a great way to keep in touch with the ever-changing collegiates. I know that our web domain gives us a few email addresses, but I imagine it would cost something to have one for *each* chapter. I think it's probably worth it, though. |
Finding where certain Chapters are is a tough situation.
greekpages.com is one. But it is outdated unless a Chapter e-m them. Each Org. has a area that only members only can get into and ours is down right now!!!:o It has been suggested to LXA Headquarters to set up a e-m system, but remembr folks, it cost a lot of money to do this. We are all in a time of economic striff and trying to do things that are considered frills aint in the pix! I know when I travelled that I wish I had stopped more Houses at the time! Even with that, I have been to houses in Mo.(4) Ks.(3) Neb.(1) Fl.(1) Tenn.(1) Ok. (1)Ark.(1) My Bad, Missed states of Ky., SD, Ca. ,Il., Al., Ga., La., Wish I had the chance to go back and do it over again! Steve, Go man!!!!!!! |
I agree - Obviously it would be a cost/value issue, but KD is on the right track.

Our chapter has a yahoo address that never changes. National requires all of our reports and such to be e mailed to them from one address.... so every chapter should have an address that doesn't change.
|
ADPi also has a list of contact information for each chapter in a password protected area. We used to have links to all the chapters websites, but since the site has been redone they arent there anymore. I have been trying to contact and complain to nationals about that one.
