Just kinda bummed...

Gosh Almighty! Sounds, unfortunately, like the trials and tribulations of being an officer.... a lot of hard work, and often times, very little recognition of it. I don't think anyone is meaning to negate the hard work and effort you've put in, it just sounds as if the CMT has a very specific idea of what they want from the web page. But it also sounds as if they want someone to put A LOT of time and effort into it, which they may not realize is as time-consuming as it is. If possible, can there be compromise? Can you explain the benefits of what you have now, what you think is necessary to keep, and then make certain changes that they insist on? If you could meet in the middle, it may save a lot of frustration and potential butting of heads. And, if no one else is willing to work on the page or has the know-how in order to do so, it sounds as if the chapter has little options of changing it to their exact liking.
By the way, I think you've done a WONDERFUL job on the website, and frankly I enjoy seeing chapter sites with up-to-date information and and multiple links. It makes for a much more enjoyable webpage for outsiders to see what's going on in particular chapters. Lord knows I wish my alma mater would keep their site as current as yours! My two cents :) |
Coming from a non-DG, I think your website looks great! The picture of you and your mom is so cute ;)
You obviously put a lot of time and work into that site! Personally, I think it would be extrememly rude of your E-Board to tell you to change it all. Youre right about all points mentioned - the site is a place where PNMs can come and see what DG is all about (when I was rushing I know I checked out all the sites of sororities on my campus- and was very impressed!) where alums can catch up on the chapter, and where girls in the chapter can see whats going on. i would definitely explain all of that to yoru e-board. If the national webmaster approved the page - then there should be no "offical" reason for them wanting it changed - just out of their personal preference, and well it's yor job to make the website, so they are going to have to live with your decisions. I say stand firm in your decision. If they absolutely want it changed and will not compromise, tell them you don't have the time to put into a SECOND site and they need to find someone else. Just out of curiousity, how does the rest of the chapter feel about the page? |
