At Penn State University an amazing event called "Thon" was started 28 years ago by Delta Delta Delta and Kappa Delta Rho. Now almost every Sorority and Fraternity are involved....What is it you ask?

The Penn State Dance Marathon is the largest student run philanthropy in the nation, having raised over $11 million dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund (money for kids with cancer) since 1977.
A 48 hour Dance Marathon...No sitting, no sleeping, no kidding!
Over 1,800 students on twelve different committees...from Marketing who get sponsors months in advance,to Morale Committee members who rub the aching feet of weary dancers during the Marathon itself.
One overall student chairperson who lives and breathes Dance Marathon for one full year.
The combined efforts of thousands of students who raised money and cheered on the dancers all day and all night long.
650 dancers "doin' it straight for 48."

Thanks for the info! I'd heard about this event from our chapter at PSU, but didn't know how huge it was.
