"Anonymous" source... unconfirmed reports... perfect grounds to yank a charter..

Jeez, if dudes running around naked and drinking constitutes hazing, they should check out the Strip District or South Side. Lots of hazing there LOL. :D

Lol I have seen those pictures. Somebody avertised the site on fark.com. It was a Beta's personal site. The guy with his pants down over the railing was has pooping over the side of the railing and the guy below had to catch it. Nothing in those pictures had Beta letters on them but if you look at that guys other picutures you could tell that they were in the Beta house. Anyone that viewed that webpage on the net or the Penn State campus could have done it. I went back and looked at the website and of course the pictures have been taken down.

Yeah. This could be a real set-up. Amazing what Photo-Shop can do.

The personal site the pics were on was a Beta's. The pics didn't looked doctered. I don't know why he would doctor pics of his chapter for his own website.

I am sure Beta HQ can sort it out by matching pictures with faces and sort out what happend and if what was done is wrong. It's only hazing if any of the people involved were pledges.

Hazing doesn't involve *just* pledges... it can be hazing if one person or a group of people, pledges or actives, are singled out from the whole and forced or pressured to do things that everyone else is not....

The1calledTKE 11-20-2002 12:04 PM

Peer pressure, hazing? If thats the case alot of people in the world would go to jail. Or are you saying peer pressure in any organization is wrong.

IowaHawkeye 11-20-2002 12:13 PM

no i'm saying if one group is singled out, like say, the sophomores, and made to do something that they don't want to do, and no one else has to do it but them - its hazing.

you can have alums haze too. make everyone in the chapter do things b/c thats how they did it when they were there...

i'm just saying, hazing is always *just* pledges.

Ok I get ya..

I understand, however a while after 9/11 there was a picture going around the internet of a guy standing on the observation deck of the WTC with a United 757 about to hit the building.

It looked VERY realistic unless you considered a number of things like time of day, shadows, relative size of the aircraft in the picture, depth of field, lack of blurring and other technical stuff. (Leave it to a TV director like me to get that far into this stuff)

Not saying the pics in this case aren't real, just pointing out that there is a lot of stuff you can do electronically these days to manipulate photographs.

Whose to say this is hazing at all? What if these guys did this becuase they wanted to...not because they were forced?

OK, while you're correct on a technicality, in a true sense you're way off the mark - I doubt the national is investigating charges of hazing brothers. It just doesn't happen within fraternities - think about it. If the seniors are going to haze the sophomores, why not just haze the pledges?

If these guys aren't pledges, I'd doubt anything will happen to the Betas at PSU - hopefully they were just playing around.
