UF Homecoming Court
This past weekend was Homecoming/Gator Growl at UF.
The Homecoming Court was selected at the Homecoming pageant about a week prior. The court was made up of three greeks.... they were ladies from Pi Phi, Zeta, and Theta. Of the three, a homecoming queen was crowned. She is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, and was crowned at the football game on Saturday. Congrats to all of these ladies! Pi Phi, Zeta, and Thetas..... be proud of your sisters!!! :D |
I was so proud that our new president, Eirene Koulavaris, was on the Homecoming court, and I was especially happy that the other two women were Greek. Yay for us!
I was not happy about the anti-Greek jokes told at Gator Growl, though. I mean, really...was it necessary? That was the one part of the show I could've lived without. |

When I saw Eirene's name, I was like, "Yeahy! A REAL Greek!" So I am proud that she was on the Court. Actually, I'm proud of all of the women... greek letters aren't as divisive for me now, as they were in my younger days.. ;) So what were some of the anti-greek jokes? |
I'll pm you, Annie.

REAL greek?
What does that mean?

Notice the winner's last name. |
I was at Gator Growl this year. I think that the weirdest thing about the anti-greek jokes was that they were told by two people who are members of a fraternity and sorority. ???
|
Come on, you guys... you gotta have the ability to laugh at yourselves. ;)
And remember...Growl is put on by Blue Key. Most of Blue Key is greek, as well as the additional Growl staff is greek. Who do you think writes the stuff? Your brothers & sisters, that's who! |
I thought that the greek jokes were funny, and indeed they were written by greeks, so I think y'all should take them with a grain of salt.
I thought it was funny that only one sorority was named, and it was the sorority of the girl in the skit. I think it's easier to get away with making fun of the fraternities than it is to make fun of the sororities. All in good fun, kiddies. |
